Revisiting a moment that captured the spark behind someone’s craft in 2025, Kyle Wudrich @948brewing reflected on the day everything shifted.
Mid‑brew, the announcement came that all Alberta taprooms were closing — a blow to a business built around in‑person community. Canning wasn’t part of the plan, not for years, but the shutdown forced a pivot overnight. What kept the brewery alive wasn’t strategy or timing, but the people of Airdrie showing up in every way they could: ordering online, supporting deliveries, and keeping the doors open through uncertainty.
Gratitude became the through‑line, a reminder of how deeply this city backs the creators who pour into it.
Community isn’t just who shows up — it’s who stays when things get hard.
We are really hoping the weather turns around for the long weekend. We are loving the sunshine and patio time. Either way we have you set for the weekend with a fridge FULL of beers and 2 hard teas. Get stocked up for camping, yard work or come join us in the taproom if the rain comes in.
It’s been quiet for a while…
Too quiet.
But with spring in the air and patio season teasing us again, we figured it was time to bring back the loud one.
Our Smooth Talker Cream Ale is back! Light, crisp, and absolutely not subtle about it. This isn’t a whisper-of-flavour, tiptoe-into-spring kind of beer. It’s a “kick-the-door-open, windows-down, let’s-go” kind of brew. Broadcasting to everyone out there.
Smooth? Yes.
Easy drinking? Absolutely.
Quiet about it? Not a chance.
If you’ve been waiting for something a little lighter but still full of personality this loud mouth is back and very much in your face.

Well it wouldn't be a 948 anniversary without a BUNCH of new beers. No teaser, let's get right to it.
1. Returning from Christmas 2025 is the I Want S'more Stout. If you missed this over the holidays, here is your second chance to get this deliciously creamy marshmallow stout.
2. Barista Red. French Vanilla Cappuccino Red ale. This is like an afternoon coffee with friend but pairs best with loud conversation and music. We suggest an atmosphere surrounded by fermenting tanks, kettles and kegs. On tap only, no cans.
3. S&W Root Beer Brown. Schroter and Wudrich present the latest, greatest creation. Root beer that's actually beer!!! All the flavours of a soda with low sugar roasted brown ale. On tap only, no cans.
4. Micro May. Chris returned for a guest appearance at the brewery and created this Tiny version of Come What May. All the flavour of a west coast IPA with light alcohol at only 3.5%. On tap, cans available Saturday March 14.
Taproom opens today Friday March 13 at 3pm. We have Daytona Beach Seafood Tacos providing Shrimp skewers and taquitos. We are have our Hot Dog machine rolling!!! See you tonight!

Six years ago, we unlocked the doors not knowing what to expect.
