Nagas at Banteay Srei Temple.. Nāga the protector snake deity, takes form of the king cobra. It is said that the Nāgas hood shielded Buddha from harm after he achieved enlightenment. These statues and other variations with differing number of heads are often found at the portals of Buddhist shrines and pagodas.
Banteay Srei temple. This temple was finished in the year 967 and was dedicated as a Hindu temple for the god Shiva. It is largely made of red sandstone lending itself as a medium for decorative wall relief carvings.
Banteay Srei means "Citadel of Women," and it is said that the reliefs on this temple are so delicate that they could only have been carved by the hand of a woman.
