WORLDS. Following a record-breaking season, 8501A flew halfway around the world to St. Louis, Missouri 🇺🇸 for the 2026 VEX Robotics World Championship. In our season-best effort, we blasted through qualifications, going 9-1-0, and earned one of the highest numbers of AWPs, ranking us an astounding 5th in the Innovate Division. After a hectic alliance selection, we teamed up with 1940B Axis to form the 4th-seed alliance, making it to the quarterfinals before narrowly losing to two incredible teams, the eventual division champions 🫡, 9568W & 2731M. Nevertheless, thanks to our stellar performance, our robot was also featured in a Robot Rundown on @funrecf , while our early-season robot was featured in the DOME. 🔥🔥🔥 Special thanks to 1940B (GOATs) for being an exceptional alliance partner, and to everyone else with whom we worked at Worlds! A great National Event for the Vortex! Congrats to @vexrobotics6546 @driedpotatos for being tournament finalist.👑 And @8501vex for getting middle school excellence Vortex took home with following awards: 8501A - Excellence 6546A - Tournament Finalist 3632A - Amaze award 81011X - Inspire award 8063A - Judges award 8062B - Think award Even though some matches didn’t go perfectly, we gained something way more important than results. a group of friends who fought side by side. Getting to know a bunch of guys like this and moving forward together is already the biggest win. Win or lose, we’ve built something real here, and that matters more than any trophy🤜

MIDDLE SCHOOL EXCELLENCE At the Singapore V5RC National Championship, 8501A overcame tough competition to win the Middle School Excellence Award, qualifying us for Worlds. We performed well in qualifications, going 6-2-0, ranking us 10th. Furthermore, for Skills, we delivered, recording a combined score of 117 (76 Driver, 41 Prog), the highest MS skills score, ranking us 5th overall. For eliminations, we allianced with 32023A, making it to the quarter finals before a series of unfortunate chain failures ended our run. Special thanks to our coach @thad.f1 for tirelessly guiding us throughout our first season. We'd also like to thank our CCA teachers and the school for this amazing opportunity. 8501A recently participated in the Singapore Vex V5RC Tournament hosted by 2769. Despite facing some challenges due to our bot sustaining damage during early matches, we managed to rank 12th in qualifications with the highest number of AWPs. During eliminations, we allianced with 65404E and managed to upset the second seed alliance in the quarter finals before being eliminated by two strong teams in the semi finals. We also kept up our strong run at skills by placing second and recording our highest drivers skills score this season. In early November, 8501A participated in the Singapore Spooky Robo Rumble hosted by 6546. We won the Middle School Excellence Award and were crowned Robot Skills Champion, achieving a double crown in our first major competition! After a hard fought qualification stage where we ranked 13th, we allianced with 8076H before we were eliminated in the quarter finals by the first seed alliance. Despite a lack of driver skill practice and having programming skills coded the night before Day 2 of the competition, we managed to execute a smooth sequence of runs (51 Driver, 20 Prog), enough for Robot Skills Champion! In early June, 8501A participated in Blank's Beginnings Push Back, hosted by 8059. Due to the short turnaround, we recycled our IDE High Stakes bot into a glorified 8M rambot. Despite facing challenges with not having an active intake mechanism, our team blazed through the qualification matches, ending with a respectable 6-2-0 win loss tie ratio. Progressing into eliminations, we were unfortunately eliminated in the semifinals by the eventual tournament champions. Nevertheless, after two intense 3rd place matches, we eventually prevailed by one point in the second match to record 3rd place at Blank's Beginnings! Last week, 8501A participated in the IDE V5RC competition, We had a lot of fun there and we also have seen improvements in our results! With a 2-2-2 win loss tie ratio in the qualifications round. In the eliminations round, we fought fiercely but were knocked out in the semifinals. We still managed to get the create award! 8501A participated in the VEX V5RC WorldSkills Challenge 2 months ago and we achieved respectable results! As first time competitors, we managed to get pass qualifications with 3-3 win loss ratio. After hard fought elimination matches, our jouney ended in the quarterfinals. In the end, we still managed to win the inspire award!
