The VU-2d is almost here! Its been quite a process to get to this point, here is the story
V0 - Like many great electronics projects, they start on the breadboard, where you can prototype your idea without committing to a PCB. If I plug an audio signal into the breadboard, it still works!
V1 - We had some wins, and some losses. First, remember to double check your schematics... Secondly, do not put audio through ceramic caps. The headphone amplifier "worked" but it sounded like you were in a tunnel the whole time. Learned a lot here
V2 - It worked pretty much off the bat! I had an idea to solder on the LEDs to the meter boards in a "straddle" but WOW was that a pain. This was also a test of a faceplate with LEDs going through it, but once again putting it together was not going to be easy.
The unit itself actually worked pretty well! The headphone amp sounded good, and the meter boards were working, but calibrating them to be the same was not very easy...
V3 - Near the end! Decided that a nice feature would be a passthrough for headsets, so you can still use a microphone though the device. I also needed the meter boards to be thinner so the bolts I bought for the project would work.
Unfortunately for me, the pinout for the audio jacks on the datasheet was WRONG! I sent a message to the manufacturer, and they have fixed the datasheet.

Also on this revision, I stopped the meter boards from giving you a seizure.
V4 - This version was all about getting the overall current consumption down, and getting ready for the final production run. I was able to get the current down to 150mA at 5V, and was able to two entire chips from the circuit! Once again, I learned that I need to check the schematic... (see red bodge wire)
The case was also made to make sure there was clearance for the USB C jack and sensitivity adjust on the back side.
V5 - I committed. I got most of the board assembled for me, so there is far less soldering for me to do on each board.
