On a production, she was leading the Production Design team.
She knew the vision, the budget and the cost of every material. She worked closely with the director to build something precise and intentional.
On site, she was talking to the fundi, giving him the design, the measurements, the materials she would prefer to use.
She saw a man, hovering, listening, but was focused on the conversation with the fundi. Then the same man, who was not part of the crew, not part of anything, walked up to the fundi and gave him different instructions. The fundi listened. Naturally. Redesigned the runway and readjusted the quote.
When the quote came back higher, she questioned it. The fundi explained the design had changed. “Who changed the design because that is not mine?” He pointed to the man, the same man walking around like he owns the production.
She stood her ground. Quietly. Completely. What she didn't know was that the director had been watching and listening the whole time. He walked over to the fundi. Without drama. Without any emotions or accusations. He said only four words.
She is your boss.

She placed two toy Land Cruisers on the table.
I couldn't help myself.
I picked one up.
The wheels turned. The doors opened. The roof lifted, just like a real safari car.
I kept turning it over thinking, how do they make hinges that small?
I wasn't thinking about content. I wasn't thinking about storytelling or strategy.
I was just playing.
Then I started recording.
It wasn't until the edit that I saw what we actually had. Found the right music. Watched it come together.
BAAM!
I sent it to her. She was overjoyed. She didn't know toy cars can be a marketing tool. She has posted that video every three days for two months. Her customers, her peers, her network, they cannot get enough.
