@pinkassassin83 and I had a really wonderful lunch at @umamiglasgow today. We love Japanese food and had seen several glowing reviews from local Instagram foodies, so we thought we'd give Umami a go. Iit's lovely, bright place inside and even the crockery choices are wonderful. Whoever put this restaurant together really has an eye for detail. The lunch menu is really reasonably priced, the service is both charming and efficient and it all adds up to a really relaxed experience. The usual evening menu is also available so we did order some extra dishes as we couldn't decide. The food is just superb. Best sushi we've ever had. The salmon ramen (my go-to) was simply amazing. The broth!! Aww, the broth. The bento box, which my wife had, was a level above any other we've seen. You cannot compare Umami to the Japanese chain restaurants!! We're definitely going back!! I've got some hospital stuff and then recovery to do, but we're definitely going back. I think my wife will go there with her friends before I'm back up and running. A new go-to lunch spot. No, I'm not affiliated with anyone. No, Umami don't know I'm writing. We just went to lunch at a new place we read about and it's so good I want to post about it!!

Things have slow due a painful kidney infection that won't go away and a slight ouchy. Our recycle cardboard bins hadn't been collected since Christmas, so I thought I'd cut up stuff in order to get more in the bin. The plan was great, but the execution of said plan was sub-optimal. So we're onto this stage with Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne. We've got a blanket over a big piece of plexi that usually protects our kitchen table. Over the coming days we'll raise the blanket little by little. We can't wait until we don't have to keep Selina in a room. We have given her time to have a look around for a while but it's a game of which doors to shut so she can explore in peace. Patience is the name of the game!! We've just got a link to Talin's Just Giving page. Link in bio (never been able to say that before!!). OK, here’s the scoop…. My wife Jen @pinkassassin83 & I need your help. This is an edited version of a post on my Facebook page. I've made the post public so anyone can read it and go to the Just Giving link to donate if they can, or just share the link if they are unable to. We’ve been thinking about getting a companion for Bruce Wayne for a while now, and a couple of weeks ago we decided to go ahead. I found a Scottish charity called Clan McCat Scotland, and handed my phone to my wife, Jen, for her to look through. A couple of minutes later, Jen looked back at me and look really emotional. She’d seen a beautiful cat who had an horrendous back story. That combination really affected her. There wasn’t a thought that we weren’t going to apply. The application process is not short nor straightforward, but we were accepted to adopt Talin.  It has taken Mahi, (who's Talin's rescuer and has, in her words, an "opera singing" dog) months to get to the point of being able to even touch Talin. Mind you, if you’d had a severe back burn, and other injuries, you wouldn’t let a person near you either.  Talin is in Bahrain and we need to raise funds to get her over here. She & other cats get flown to Heathrow, they all get checked, and then get driven to their new homes.  The target is £500 as it’s expensive to fly animals. Jen & I have passed the rigorous application process to adopt Talin. This from the description on the Cat McCat website. "Talin’s life began in a rough area where she endured significant hardship. When her rescuer saved her, her back was bare of fur—evidence of the abuse she had endured. Understandably, Talin was fearful of being touched, anticipating more harm. We need to fundraise to get her to the UK. Yes, we are paying a fee, but all adopters pay the same. We are then asked to fundraise £500 to get Talin to the UK I will be putting Talin's fundraising page on a forthcoming post so, in the meantime, please tell anyone and everyone that you think will listen.
