We exist to reconnect people with the ocean and to back the ideas that will protect it. 🌊
Rooted in communities rising for the ocean, 71blue was born from a simple truth: water isn’t just around us, it’s part of us.
At UNOC3, we shared this message with the world because saving the sea isn’t just an environmental issue, it’s about protecting what keeps us alive.
We work with communities and change-makers to protect what connects us all.
This is not just a movement, it’s a return to something essential.
This is 71blue.
We connect people to the ocean and to each other.
This message at #UNOC3 wouldn’t have been possible without the collaboration of incredible ocean advocates, artists, scientists, and community leaders. 💙
Huge thanks to our panel speakers, contributors, and partners who brought this to life:
@mantatrust | @oceansole | @artport_mw | @connectocean | @sea_sisters_lk | @marineconservationsociety | @ioc_unesco
Thank you for sharing your voice, your work, and your passion. Together, we rise for the ocean. 🌊
They get mixed up ALL the time… but seals and sea lions are actually pretty easy to tell apart once you know what to look for 👀
From ear flaps to how they move (and even their personalities), these two marine mammals have some key differences that completely change how they live in the ocean.
Same environment, totally different approach.
Now you’ve got it, no more second guessing at the beach 🦭🦁
Which one did you think they were before this? 😅

Today we celebrate Sir David Attenborough on his 100th birthday, a voice that has shaped how the world sees nature, and continues to inspire action to protect it.
“The final chapter is ours to write. We know what we need to do. What happens next is up to us.”
That message feels especially powerful right now. At 71blue, our work is rooted in the same belief, that connection creates care, and care drives action. By bringing people closer to the ocean and the natural world, we hope to play even a small part in shaping that next chapter.
His legacy reminds us that we are not separate from nature, but part of it, and that what we choose to do next truly matters.
Happy 100th birthday, Sir David 🌍💙

Last summer, I had the privilege of attending the premiere of Our Story with David Attenborough at the Natural History Museum through my work with @71bluefoundation , invited by the @openplanetorg .
With Sir David Attenborough celebrating his 100th birthday today, it felt like the perfect time to reflect on just how inspiring his work has been for generations of people around the world. His storytelling has helped us see the natural world not as something separate from us, but as something we are deeply connected to, and responsible for protecting.
Created by Open Planet Studios, Our Story captured that message so powerfully. It was emotional, thought-provoking and hopeful all at once, and felt like such a fitting tribute to Sir David’s legacy and lifelong dedication to our planet (and you can still book tickets now)
A true legend whose work continues to inspire curiosity, care and action.
Happy 100th birthday, Sir David 🌍💙

💙 FINAL DAY — EARTH RAISE CLOSES AT 12PM 🌊
What a week.
Together, we’ve unlocked full match funding and already helped accelerate community-led ocean restoration across the Mediterranean.
This is what happens when people come together for the ocean.
And today, we take it one step further.
Until 12pm, donations are still being matched by our founders — continuing to double your impact.
Not because we’re chasing a target, but because the work continues.
🌍 One last chance. Let’s see how far we can go.
🌊 Double your impact before 12pm.

💙 24 HOURS LEFT — DOUBLE IMPACT STILL LIVE 🌊
We’re entering the final stretch of Earth Raise. For one more day, every donation is still being matched.
Thanks to you, we’ve reached our Earth Raise target and unlocked full match funding for the campaign.
That means real action is already being powered across Mediterranean coastal communities, restoring marine ecosystems and strengthening livelihoods.
But the story doesn’t end here.
Every donation from now on continues to be matched by our founders, up to £5,000, until the campaign closes.
So your impact can still go twice as far.
Tomorrow, this opportunity closes.
🌍 If you’ve been thinking about giving, this is your moment.
🌊 If you’ve already supported us, help us reach others by sharing.

Along a Mediterranean coastline, a small-scale fisher heads out at dawn.
The sea is not just their workplace, it’s their identity, their history, their future.
For generations, these waters have provided food, income, and belonging.
But today, everything is changing.
Fish are harder to find.
Habitats are disappearing.
The ocean is under pressure.
And those who depend on it feel it first.
They want to protect it, but they cannot do it alone.
This Earth Day, through #EarthRaise, 71blue is supporting community-led action to restore marine ecosystems and protect coastal livelihoods 🌊
And right now, your impact goes twice as far.
Until April 29th, every donation is matched, doubling your support for the ocean.

We don’t just need to protect the ocean. We need to change how we relate to it. 🌊
Because ocean protection doesn’t start in the water.
It starts with connection.
With people.
With communities.
With understanding what’s really at stake.
This is what Earth Raise is about 💙
Supporting projects that bring people closer to the ocean — and turn that connection into long-term care and protection.
Right now, every donation is DOUBLED. (Until April 29th only).

In Puglia, every flavour begins with the sea. 🌊🍅
A huge thank you to @terrarossa_restaurant for supporting 71blue this Earth Week and helping bring ocean conservation to the table.
Together we’re raising support for a community project protecting Mediterranean marine ecosystems, because the future of coastal culture, seafood, and local livelihoods depends on a thriving ocean. 💙
Now we want to hear from you:

Talamone is breathtaking. But like many coastlines, it’s under pressure. 🌊
Climate change.
Unsustainable fishing.
Human impact.
The ocean gives us life — oxygen, food, climate balance.
Yet too often, we forget how much we depend on it.
The good news?
The solutions are human too.
This campaign supports real action — restoring marine ecosystems and working with coastal communities to protect what sustains us. 💙
And right now, your impact goes twice as far.
From 22–29 April, every donation is DOUBLED.
One gift.
Double the ocean impact.

We’re called the Blue Planet for a reason. 🌍🌊
More than 70% of our world is ocean — and its health is directly tied to our own.
“The health of the ocean is the health of the planet — and if we want to survive, we need a thriving ocean.”
This is not just about nature.
It’s about all of us.
Right now, you can support real ocean action — from restoring marine habitats to reconnecting communities with the sea 💙
And until April 29th, every donation is doubled, multiplying your impact.
