The original plan was to follow the route from Dege to Yushu on bikepacking.com, but the original text was from 2017. Today, ten years later, I came to western Sichuan and was amazed at the speed of our country's infrastructure construction. There are not many dirt roads left, and I was exhausted after riding two shallow sections. So we went along the Jinsha River, followed the Tongtian River, from Dege to Yushu, and then took the expressway back to Chengdu.

This talk, titled “The Photobook as Method,” brings together participating artists Cui Shansheng and Liu Weier, two photographers engaged in independent publishing. They will share their individual creative journeys and reflect on why, in the digital age, they continue to choose the photobook as a medium for expression.
From the act of photographing to the formation of a book, the conversation will explore how the photobook can function as a way of thinking and a mode of action, while also revisiting their experiences participating in art book fairs. The discussion will further extend to the current conditions and challenges of photography and print media today. When everything can be instantly uploaded and consumed, does the “slowness” of the printed book still hold meaning? What makes the photobook, as a method, still necessary?

It's been raining a lot in Chengdu lately. A few days ago, mud flew into my mouth from the front wheel. When I got home, I searched online for mudguards but couldn't find anything that really satisfied me - either they were too expensive or just looked ugly. So I had no choice but to make one myself. I bought a bucket of orange juice from the supermarket. The bottle was the right length and sturdy enough. I cut it in half and then put them back together to strengthen the structure. The bottom part of the bottle acted as a drainage channel, and it elegantly sent the dirty water back to the ground. You really have to rely on yourself sometimes - using your brain and hands can save you a lot of unnecessary money.

Where doesI unlocked my first mountain bike ride at Longchi, ait was also my first ATB frame. The VO PIOLET gave me a lot of confidence and a sense of freshness. The super-wide tires gave me the courage to try any unknown terrain, and the diamond frame was stable and reliable. The highly suspended and fully loaded bagman tailpack rack required just a bit of reinforcement to achieve an impressive overall feel. The slightly raised and retracted Xiao Yan handlebars strike a balance between comfort and control. The manual dual-chainring setup also opened up a whole new world - to properly reduce weight and lower the mechanical failure rate, I didn't install a front derailleur, so I had to get off and shift gears manually before going uphill. It was really interesting.
