back in 2022 I went to the amazon and spent time with the yagua tribe who live near the border of peru & colombia.
during my visit I had the pleasure of meeting the central figure of my painting, juliana, who struck me with her piercing gaze.
it carried this quiet resilience that I resonated with deeply without knowing exactly what she’d been through.
i saw a reflection of my own journey in her
& i guess in many ways she became a symbol of the inner power I aspire to embody.
𝘞𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘳 was created in memory of my father who passed away unexpectedly 7 years ago. It draws its title from the nickname he gave me, mi guerrera (my warrior). his words still echo in my mind, reminding me of my inner strength on the days I cannot seem to find it within myself. the boat beneath Juliana, weathered and worn, symbolises the journey of life. a vessel battered by life experiences, yet still afloat. its cracks and rough textures speak to my own path through grief, while the calm surrounding waters represents the peace I’m still moving toward.
this duality of struggle and serenity, damage and endurance, sits at the heart of this painting, and many of our lives.
yet 𝘞𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘳 extends far beyond my own story. It gives voice to the erased narratives of Indigenous people, and the stories that have been stolen and distorted through history.
through this piece, and its extended series, I hope to challenge eurocentric norms within the art world and create space for Indigenous voices to be seen, honoured, and remembered.

very excited & honoured to be showcasing my painting at @creativedebuts FACE 2 FACE exhibition this 5th of march 🤍
this piece is inspired by a journey to the amazon, and a powerful encounter with juliana from the yagua tribe. it is a deeply personal reflection on strength, loss and identity, and it honours my father who used to call me his ‘guerrera’(warrior). a name that continues to guide me through grief and healing.
this will also be my first time exhibiting Warrior in london so I would loveee for all my people to come through if you’re free!!

“Inocencia” explores the balance between the forces that both protect and test our spirit
with this painting, I wanted not only to capture the Yagua Tribe in their natural habitat, but also reflect the purity and innocence of childhood. that fleeting chapter in life when our choices are guided by curiosity, even if tinged with naivety.
after visiting the Yagua Tribe, I packed up my life in london and moved to la for love. it was the purest act of devotion, yet the riskiest decision I had ever made. what began as a bold pursuit of love soon morphed into deep despair. and although I don’t regret my decision, it definitely challenged my spirit in ways I didn’t anticipate.
In leaving behind everything that felt familiar, I gradually started to lose my sense of belonging. I operated from a place of fear, clinging onto anything that felt secure as my identity seemed to slip through my fingers. I found myself far from the person I thought I was. but at my core, I felt the presence of a quiet force that never abandoned me.
this painting serves as a reminder that no matter how far we drift from our sense of self, the spirit always finds its way back home
so I invite you to reconnect with the curiosity and innocence of childhood
to take risks
to be brave and audacious
even in the face of fear or loss

My next short film, My Sister’s Keeper, from Abhiolar Art Productions, is now live.
This film was made with so much care, patience, and love, and I’m deeply grateful to finally share it with you. From pre-production and location scouting to casting, multiple shoot days, and post-production, every stage of this journey has meant so much to me.
My Sister’s Keeper is a story about grief, abandonment, resentment, and the painful burden of responsibility we sometimes carry for the people we love.
It’s now live on my YouTube channel. The link is in my bio.
If my films have ever moved you, I’d really appreciate your support through a like, share, and subscribe. It helps us keep telling intentional, beautifully crafted stories, and continue creating cinematography that serves the emotion as much as the image.
