We were able to return this original photo from our book ONCE UPON A HOOD to the woman in the photograph. Taken in December, 1985, the photo shows her and her late husband. It was confiscated shortly afterward and spent decades in the hands of gang unit officers and private collectors before eventually reaching us. Nearly 40 years later, with the help of their son, we were finally able to return it to her.
They don’t have many photos of him, which makes this one especially meaningful.
