Eleven years of photos and so many of them look the same — you, a few steps ahead of me, that New Yorker stride carrying you forward while I try to keep up.
At first it was just a funny quirk. Now it means everything.
Because that’s just who you are. You’ve always been out front — leading our family, holding things together, knowing which way to go. There’s something I never expected to feel in a partnership, and that’s the quiet comfort of knowing that you’re taken care of. You’ve got it. You’ve always had it.
So here’s to you, the woman perpetually a half-block ahead of me in every sense of the word. I wouldn’t want it any other way.
