This is the last weekend to see Obey The Moon by Caroline Burton. We are open today at 2 and will have a closing reception on Sunday at 3. Hope to see you.
I’m excited to announce my solo show, OBEY THE MOON, at 490 Atlantic Gallery January 3, - February 1, 2026. I’ll be at the opening and nearly every Saturday and Sunday while the show is up. Please DM me if you want to meet up on the weekend or visit during the week.
The exhibition title comes from the phrase “forbid the sea for to obey the moon,” a Shakespearean idiom from “The Winter’s Tale” interpreted as meaning it is impossible or pointless to try and stop something that is a natural and inevitable occurrence. During the process of creating, there are points where the work takes over, and seems to finish itself. Over time I have learned to trust this intuitive process, which embraces and obeys inherent mistakes, rather than attempt to fix or force my will onto them.
OBEY THE MOON opens on the first full moon of 2026. An omen, perhaps.
