We understand that we can’t change the world overnight, but we can try—one mile at a time. Total donated from 48 For Floyd 2023: $28,059 The funds we raised will go towards payments to Black parents living with mental conditions and to providing therapy sessions for LGTBQ+ individuals who are at risk.
We appreciate everyone who joined in and supported by sharing, running, or donating. We couldn’t have done it without all of you! We had runners all over the globe and had 27 runners in LA complete all 48 miles—three times as many as last year.
Big thank you and special shoutout to our partners @on_running and @electrolit Filmed + edited by @esmallzy 🎥✨ (a magician behind the camera who filmed every single run)
Who’s getting ready for the big weekend?
We’re four days out from our 48 For Floyd challenge this year. Prep by taking a scroll through the most frequently asked questions + our answers, and by sharing our donation links, now live in the link in our bio.
MAY 19-21
Four years ago, a weekend running challenge done by @justshields and Tyler to raise money after the death of George Floyd turned into the @venicerunclub , and its nonprofit @48forchange . We've since raised over $115k, donated over 2,000lbs of clothes, and have created an powerful community.
Our annual 48 For Floyd fundraiser is back, this year with a focus on mental health. Let's bring the magic back again this year, all for @_beamorg and @alanafaithchenfoundation .
Donation link to come May 12.
Every moment with our club is a gift, but 2022 as a whole, it was magical. This was a year with a whole lotta ‘1st time’ and ‘most’s.
We became the first run club in the US to partner with global run brand @on_running .
We had the most runners (65+) complete the @lamarathon out of all homegrown run clubs in LA.
We donated a ton (yes a literal ton) of clothes to various local homeless shelters.
We had 450 runners participate in a single run (crazy).
But, our mission is the same as it was when our club started in late August 2020: to provide an inclusive space for everyone while inspiring change and spreading awareness around different social issues. No matter the year, no matter the accomplishments, that will always be the focus.
The actions of the people make community. Love y’all.
So excited to officially announce that we are part of @on_running ’s Right to Run program, a social impact program that amplifies work already happening in local communities to drive change.
It’s an honor to be recognized by a brand who so strongly supports our mission to help reverse racial and social injustice in our community, one run at a time. We’ve already felt a massive impact from their support at our @venicerunclub 5k, the LA marathon, and most recently our third annual 48 For Floyd event that reached hundreds not just in our community, but across the nation.
Can’t wait for what’s next.

We appreciate everyone that joined in and supported - either by sharing, participating in the runs or donating. We couldn’t have done what we did without all of the tremendous support! We had runners all over the globe - which is fantastic. We had 12 runners in LA and 3 runners in Portland complete all 48 miles - which is wild. We also had over 120 unique donors during the 13 day fundraiser - The love was truly felt.
⠀
The 48 For Floyd challenge is special because every year we have the opportunity to give back to our community and celebrate the life of our cofounder, Tyler Standley. Tyler wanted to help the youth and give them a chance to excel in life!! The funds we raised will go towards providing care and empowerment to young people experiencing homelessness. The donations will fund @safeplaceforyouth low-barrier drop-in services, health and wellness programming, housing placement, case management, street outreach programs, education and employment services, and more - which is exactly what T wanted.
We thank everyone again!! What we’ve built in such a short amount of time is truly special, let’s continue to make change!! ⠀

This is bigger than running. Each year, @48forchange and @venicerunclub host their 48 For Floyd challenge which is designed to test our limits, both physically and mentally.
This year, we partnered with @safeplaceforyouth , the leading service provider for unhoused youth throughout West Los Angeles.
Our crew showed up in force with over 120 unique runners participating in runs throughout the weekend, and 15 runners between Los Angeles and Portland (@ultraashley , @double.jameson , @tarra.runs ) completing all 48 miles.
We’ve raised over $11k thus far (donation link will remain open until Friday), and donated 100lbs of clothing to @safeplaceforyouth .
We understand that we can’t change the world overnight, but we can try—one mile at a time.
Big thank you to our partners @on_running and @drinkbev .

❤️ that’s a wrap on 48 For Floyd year three.
12 runs, 48 miles, 44 hours, little sleep, lots of love, and an overwhelming amount of support poured in. We’re especially grateful for friends not in LA who ran or biked on their own, as well as @on_running for their partnership and @drinkbev for their hospitality.
We’re keeping the donation link in our bio live until the end of the week. Let’s keep those last donations coming in.
