Excited to share a new project I’m launching called 4800FT.
The concept is simple: 12 directors, 12 songs, 12 rolls of film.
Each filmmaker will create a visual response to a song from my upcoming album, interpreting the music however they choose within the limitation of a single roll of 16mm film.
The project will culminate in a screening of all twelve works to coincide with the album release - a public event celebrating analogue mediums in a digital world and bringing people together for an immersive, intentional viewing experience.
I’ve been sitting on this album for a while, unsure how to release it without any label support. This is my way of shifting the process - handing the music over to other artists and inviting new interpretations to emerge.
The first iteration is something of an experiment, but I’m curious to see whether it might grow into an ongoing platform connecting filmmakers and musicians outside traditional industry frameworks. At its core,
@4800ft is about reconnecting with art, people, and the joy of making things together.
Thanks to early support from
@kodak_shootfilm , we’re already closer to getting started. To broaden the scope of what’s achievable, we’re inviting support from friends, peers and anyone who believes in the value of independent creative work.
Tax deductible donations can be made through the
@ausculturalfund with contributions going toward production costs including gear hire, crew fees, post production and the final event.
If you’re a filmmaker, or someone interested in production, please feel free to reach out. With twelve shoots about to happen there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved, learn something new, and connect with others in a supportive, low pressure environment.
