This weekend, come see our group show, “Drawing the Line,” featuring work by Jo-Ann Acey, Catherine Orrok, and Janet Pedersen. Each artist approaches line in a distinct and thoughtful way, exploring its expressive possibilities through very different visual languages. The exhibition invites viewers to consider how line can define form, suggest movement, create rhythm, and convey emotion. #whattodorhisweekend #brooklyngalleries #brooklynartists

“These pieces do not resolve the contradictions they hold, says Leigh Blanchard. “Instead, they remain in tension: comfort and unease, autonomy and limitation, understanding and misinterpretation. This show is both a reflection of personal transformation and an exploration of how identity is shaped within broader social and political frameworks.” Stop by the gallery this week to discover how this collection of photographs and mixed-media images reveal one artist’s recent personal exploration. featured: Leigh Blanchard, A Fist Full of Petals 1, 2026, Archival pigment print on Hahnemühle paper, Edition of 15 Our two shows run through May 24, 2026 “Meet Me Underwater” a solo show by Leigh Blanchard. “Drawing the Line” a group show by Jo-Ann Acey, Catherine Orrok and Janet Pedersen.

I put together a playlist of some of the music I listened to while creating the work for Meet Me Underwater 🌊 A lot of these songs directly inspired the pieces, with lyrics making their way into artwork titles and even into the work itself. You can listen on Spotify and YouTube Music through the links in my bio (@leigh.blanchard ) 🎶 #contemporaryartwork #embroideryart #textileart #brooklynartist

Lace becomes a recurring motif in Leigh Blanchard’s new works. Her show of photographs and mixed-media images, “Meet Me Underwater,” has several pieces that feature lace as an element. “Lace, in particular, has held a significance throughout my journey as an autistic artist,” says Leigh. “I use it as a way to ground myself, and in turn, I extend that same sense of relief to the figures within the work.” Our two shows run through May 24, 2026 “Meet Me Underwater” a solo show by Leigh Blanchard. “Drawing the Line” a group show by Jo-Ann Acey, Catherine Orrok and Janet Pedersen.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by this weekend to see our new shows.
In the front gallery, “Meet Me Underwater” is a solo show of photographs and mixed-media images by Leigh Blanchard. Diagnosed as Autistic in 2024, Blanchard created this body of work in response to her diagnostic journey. Combining photography and fiber elements such as lace and embroidery, Blanchard’s pieces evoke both comfort and unease. In the Project Space, “Drawing the Line” is a group show by Jo-Ann Acey, Catherine Orrok and Janet Pedersen. Three painters explore the importance of line as a basic means of expression. Our two shows run through May 24, 2026
