Towards our closure in a couple of months (😭), we've just marked ALL of our ebooks down 50%, so you can grab some of them for as little as £2.25 until they all disappear on Wednesday 27th May.

Today is technically the official publication day for Publisher Not Found, because it's 4/04/26... but Saturday is an awkward pub day so we released it early. Thank you all who have taken time with it already and for the kind words. We hope it's interesting and useful for those already in publishing and those looking to enter the small publishing business in the future. It's hard, but it's a ride.
ICYMI: The 404 Ink Bursary is open for applications. Here is what is on offer, both from 404 and other orgs who are backing us!
Links and all info can be found in our bio.
We'd really, REALLY, love for this to reach as many small presses or collectives in the UK who could benefit from these opportunities, so please share / tag / yell about to those who could be interested in applying!
If you have any questions on eligibility just drop us a DM or email.

📢 APPLICATIONS OPEN: THE 404 INK BURSARY FOR UK-BASED SMALL PRESSES
Applications are now open for the 404 Ink bursary to support small presses in the UK. There are two strands you can apply for, donating £1,000 towards creative projects and helping them come to fruition, and £500 towards hosting an intern and giving newcomers their first step into the industry. We are pledging two of each to begin, totalling £3,000.
We are also pledging our royalties from pre-orders of Publisher Not Found: A Decade of Disruption, our book looking behind the scenes of 404 Ink’s rise and fall, to fund further bursaries.
Deadline: 12 April 2026, 11:59PM BST
You can view all the questions at 404ink.com/blog, and apply on the form.
We’re also crowdfunding additional bursaries and would love your support.
Links for all are in our bio. 🔗
Please share & spread the word!
📢 WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We have opened applications for the 404 Ink bursary to support small presses in the UK, but that is only one part of the plan! We are also crowdfunding to raise additional bursaries to give away.
We have run a number of crowdfunders over our ten years, and been humbled by the support, and want to do it one last time. Instead of funding our books, however, we want to pay it forward and need your help.
Whether you can spare £1 or £1,000, every penny raised will be given away to small presses in the UK, on top of our initial £3,000 pledge from 404 Ink. If there are any organisations you think who could spare financial support, or in-kind offers for applicants, please put this on their radar.
The survival of small presses is under a greater threat than ever before, and their work is vital - any way you are able to support and circulate the Bursary, we are grateful!

We got a mention at a London Book Fair panel this week about small press struggles and appreciate the nod and discussion of why the loss of small presses is a depressing predicament. While just a small gesture, our upcoming Bursary seeks to mitigate some of that depression...launching very soon!
COMING SOON!
The 404 Ink Bursary for small presses and accompanying crowdfunder will launch in mid-March. This will give away at least £3,000 to small presses - we hope to raise more to pay it forward to even more people.
We've had a lot of queries regarding the Bursary, so have uploaded a summary of the application's questions and prompts on the 404 Ink website (link in bio), so applicants aren't tied to completing answers as they work through the form when it is live.
The crowdfunder will raise additional money to give away - if you, or an organisation, would be interested in donating £ when it launches, keep your eyes peeled!
Thank you! We want this opportunity to reach small presses and orgs that could benefit most. Please help us put the Bursary on their radar!

As we're now in 2026, the year of our closure, we're beginning to mark some books as out of print via our distributor, meaning it's your last chance to get your hands on some 404 Ink history before they're gone!
Books now marked as out of print with last copies available via us directly via our website.
Kajal Odedra considers how hair has shaped society today, from the ‘perfect’ blondes in the school playground to the angry skinheads on the streets. Mohawks, wigs, afros, these are just a few of the ways in which hair has been part of history and wider activism.
