As many other builders know, patterns and styles that we think are new have often been done long before. Like BMs black rainbow. Or what we now call parrot but evidenced in the 40s-50s by builders like kristock and the like humble us. Just want to give a give a shout out to a buddy and what feel has become a mentor. Gremlin, you all know him and if you don’t…. Do. He showed me the initial way to do crackle which was way different than I had done before. Then he really let me in the loop. What you’ll see from me as crackle going forward owes a nod to Jamie. Maybe I’ll pass the knowledge to another builder…. Not so soon however haha. We’re still Surfcasters. @jsschiffer
@401plugs Danny DeVito has become one of my absolute favorite metal lips — a real confidence plug. If anything’s lurking, I know they’ll show themselves on this, especially when you’ve got bunker swirling on the beach getting chased by predatory fish.
You can burn it in with a fast cadence or slow-crawl it, and it just hangs on top, pushing that perfect Coach Bombay Flying V wake as it works its way in.
When fish see that wake, they’re locked in. They have to know what’s making it. A split second later—boom—topwater explosion, heart pounding, line tight. What it’s all about.
After this session, I asked Will to do a custom bunker pattern, and it’s going to be an absolute weapon. A must-have in the bag when the bait is thick.
Will makes some of the best plugs out there, and I’m genuinely grateful not just for the friendship, but for the chance to collaborate with him. Sky’s the limit, brother 🤙 Let’s get it.
Sometimes when you mess up you might figure something out. Over width drill bit for tail weight holes turns out sounds OK. Always learning and adjusting. That’s for all the Surfcasters who put these plugs to work! @ Narragansett Surfcasters show Saturday
