The boys dropped their TCAL semifinal game to Pinole this afternoon, and move onto NCS with a record of 17-8. Lotta good people on this team I’m gonna miss next year.
No national records broken in Smallbany this week. Just great kids staying healthy and having fun.
Volleyball lost to D1 Berkeley in three close sets. Baseball bested Pinole Valley 10-0. Swimming dominated its meet against El Cerrito and Saint Mary’s.
Our brain+strength combos continue to produce big results. Congrats to all the seniors off to amazing places next year to continue their athletic careers. As we like to say in these parts, if you can’t run yourself to Yale, butterfly your way to MIT 🙃

Wow. The self-proclaimed PR Capital of the World and the largest distance-only meet in the United States did not disappoint. The great thing about having 115(!) heats of the 800M is that an entire spectrum of young runners get to have their moment in the sun. 92 degrees on Friday btw. These are some tough kids.

It was an unreasonably slow but pleasant day on the water for the 43rd Big Daddy Regatta pursuit race. After two hours of delay waiting for some wind and >30% participant attrition, the remaining boats finally got underway. Even then, my role ended up being less sports photographer and more “guy who shoots portraits of people on floating objects”.
So my job was easy. And maybe sailing in light wind is easy. But I’m pretty sure winning a race in light wind is difficult. Which is why I was smiling big when my student Addison, her dad and team crossed the finish line first as the monohull winner in Tenacious Cuttlefish (Brandon Mercer / Will Pochereva).
Very grateful for all the hospitality from @richmondyachtclub . Esp thankful for J/105 national champ and friend @dj.fun_ . You’re the best dude. Can’t wait to get out on the water again!
