I’m finally ready to share a little bit of this story — this journey. Around this time last year, I moved to Guatemala. Before I left, I sold or gave away all of the furniture that belonged to Lukas and almost all of his clothes. I didn’t know I would say goodbye to Lukas along the way. When I look at pictures from that time, I can still see him. But also her. Both. Holding hands.
When I planned that trip, I had no idea it would become my healing journey.

For me, healing meant letting go. Accepting who I had been — but also who I no longer needed to be. And most of all: showing up as who I truly am. My passport still said Lukas at this time, but there, I introduced myself as Luise.
I’m endlessly grateful that on this indescribable adventure I met such incredibly beautiful people who inspired me so deeply and helped me heal. I am still at a loss for words for all this beauty — but by sharing it, it somehow becomes a little more real.
The greatest gift of this journey: I was finally able to see how much beauty I carry — as Lukas and as Luise.

Muster: Etwas in seiner Art Vollkommenes, Nachahmenswertes, Beispielhaftes.
Mann: Eine erwachsene Person mit dem männlichen Geschlecht.
Zusammen stehen sie für ein System, in welchem der Maskuline als tauglich und der Feminine als untauglich gilt.
Ein System, in dem jede Abweichung vom Vorgegeben zu vermeiden oder gar verboten ist.
Ein Muster, in dem viele verloren gehen, ausgeschlossen werden, untergehen.
Ein Mann, den ich überwinden will.
Mustermann: einer Reihe von Filmsequenzen, die die Rückkehr in meinen Heimatort im Burgenland thematisieren. Diskriminierungserfahrungen, Klischees, Sprichwörter sowie Geschlechterrollen werden als Storyboard verwendet.
Wallern im Burgenland, der Ort, aus dem ich aufgrund meiner Homosexualität regelrecht vertrieben worden bin, wird als Bühne, Trainingsraum, Frisiersalon und Tanzstudio verwendet.
