“SCRAP” — 2021 — Recovered Footage
This video is a style exercise made from archival footage that I tried to shape into a coherent piece. The material dates back to 2021. At the time, I was strongly inspired by the Pusher trilogy by Nicolas Winding Refn, as well as by the aesthetic and atmosphere of video games like « Manhunt ».
Because the films themselves are very explicit, we had to deal with the constraints of publishing on social media. The solution was to lean more into the psychological aspect, using heavy blurring similar to the way it’s used in « Kane & Lynch », letting suggestion replace explicit imagery.
What remains is more of a fragment than a finished short-film, a reconstruction built from abandoned material, somewhere between a lost project and an archive rediscovered.
