For Sale: Built in 2017, this four-bedroom home in south London was conceived as a warm, family house by award-winning architects 31/44. Generous windows frame leafy outlooks, allowing shifting light and shadow to animate the interiors throughout the day, while carefully placed planting blurs the boundary between inside and out.

Having a digital tidy up and found these. Pretty much the first house we built back in 2013. Hidden behind a terrace of houses it’s made of the same kinds of forms as the backs of those houses…

Revisiting Six Columns, a project from a couple of years ago now, and trying something new:
Home to @31_44 practice founder Will Burges, the final project photography is presented here alongside early concept sketches, just a handful of thousands that Will produced throughout the process of designing and constructing the house.
These drawings have a sense of precision and confidence, and, taken as a collective snapshot, I find it fascinating observing which details - such as the composition of the street-facing facade or the arrangement of LVL beams that support the flat living room roof - emerged in close to their final form, and which elements - like the design of chimney and inclusion of a dormer at the rear of the house - seemingly took longer to resolve.
Once again, I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to document such unique and nuanced work!
