Hi there! I’m Vaneesha, and I co-own 22 Hub 🏡 I often get asked what I love the most about our cozy 70’s vintage space and while the list is a long one, I thought I’d compile some of my absolute favorites!
1. Our vintage Terrazo floors. When we first moved in back in 2020, an architect paid us a visit and and told us that they don’t make terazzo tiles like these anymore, which means they’re both very rare and very precious!
2. The centre courtyard that makes us feel like we’re in a Mani Ratnam movie! Many Tamil and Indian movies feature spaces like these in houses with large families who always end up meeting in the centre. I love that it’s the first thing anyone sees when they enter the house, that it’s where our furbabies sunbathe and plant bbs feed. True to its initial intent it does bring us together.
3. The high rise, yellow-painted air well that allows a glorious stream of sunlight into the house throughout the day. Even on days when it’s a little bit more gloomy, there’s always a ray of hope.
4. The wooden beams in our dining room and the long table made FROM the SAME wooden blocks! Our friend who lived here before us chanced upon leftover wooden blocks from the structure’s previous construction and used them to make this beautiful table from scratch!
1. The air holes in this wall— a ‘hack’ (read:ingenious idea) from back in the day, to keep a space ventilated and cool. When air-conditioning wasn’t readily available, the saving graces of tropical houses were architects and builders who experimented and came up with pretty and functional solutions like these! I love it not just because of the beautiful stream of morning light it lets in but also because it is an ode to how wonderfully intelligent and creative human beings can be.
6. The small, vintage tiles in the kitchen and courtyard that both remind me of Ipoh and Penang. Two of my favorite states in Malaysia because of how a good bit of its heritage is still preserved!

At our last show, Sheena Baharudin captured our hearts and minds with a dual language poem 'Begin/End' that started off her medley of amazing poems.
We've uploaded her FULL PERFORMANCE to our brand spanking new YOUTUBE PAGE. It's a little quiet in there at the moment but we have all the wonderful performances from the Community Show edited and ready to go up real soon.
Stay tuned for more!
The people yearn for community...and what a community it is!
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for showing up and showing out for our Community Show 🥺💓 Whether you were one of the vendors, performers or audience members, we loved watching everyone come together in the name of art.
We'd like to give a special shoutout to Vaneesha (@vaneeshakrish ) for capturing moments for our guests, @houseofantara for letting us play dress up in their gorg fits, and of course @22.hub for providing an amazing space for our show 🫶🏼 The Community Show would not have been the same anywhere else.

AI isn't just a tech issue, it's a human rights, environmental and feminist issue, and it's already shaping our life whether you opted in or not 🌍👾
One of Women's March Malaysia's seven demands this year is the regulation of AI, to prevent environmental harm, protect workers, and uphold human dignity.
But this demand doesn't stand alone, because unregulated AI is connected to the other demands connecting to land rights, child safety, gender-based violence, labour exploitation, and the silencing of the most marginalised communities.
As Audre Lorde said, there is no such thing as a single-issue struggle, because we do not live single-issue lives.
I know it’s scary times, with all the news that has come out of the boom of AI, but the way people continue to push back to fight for what is gives me hope.
For instance, as the world enters water bankruptcy, I think back to the time when communities came together and changed the course of science when the ozone hole was discovered. 198 countries came together and signed the Montreal Protocol, and the ozone layer is now on track to fully recover by 2040.
We didn't wait. We organised, mobilised, and pushed for reform, and it worked!
We can do it again. But we need more of us in the room, on the ground, in fields of creation and study, in governance.
Join us at Women's March Malaysia on 8 March 2026, Bangkit: Bantah (Night Edition), challenging fear as a tool of control and to reclaim public space 🌙✊🏽

Slowly trying to make birthday portraits an annual ritual I return to, to celebrate how far I’ve come 🧚🏽✨🥹
I cannot overstate how special shoots like this are for the soul. In a world where we are told to shrink and shy away when we don’t fit eurocentric beauty standards, existing and taking up space this way is powerful.
I think that remains even more true when they’re done with an all women team who truly understands what it means for women of diverse identities to be photographed, and strive to create a welcoming and empowering space.
Can confirm that as person in front of the camera this time around, when we see ourselves reflected in the people behind the scenes, when they understand our worries and insecurities but also hype us up so much through it, it helps us feel less like a deer in headlights and more safe to be vulnerable, to express, to connect with our bodies and celebrate ourselves - all of which reflects in our photos too.
I’ve had the women I photograph tell me that portrait sessions like these move them to tears, and change their lives, and honestly, I get it when I’m in their place too, and I cherish our moments together so much.
Inclusive women-led sets see creations like no other and create a sense of belonging unlike any male-dominant ones and I remain grateful to be able to create spaces like these with the best team.
Opening March slots for portrait sessions soon! 🥹♥️

Recently, we recorded a VO session with the award-winning Susan Lankester. These moments remind us why we do what we do and how far we’ve come as a production house.
From Mekanik to Macai, Susan brings over 40 years of experience, knowledge and talent to every take and it was an honour and pleasure to witness her in action.
So when she paused between recordings to tell Vaneesha that her direction and notes were good, clear and genuinely helpful, it meant the world.
She went on to say that this isn’t always the case. Over her decades in the industry, she’s worked with many directors who struggle to communicate their vision in ways that actually support the performance.
Hearing that validation from someone with Susan’s experience was incredibly affirming, not just for Vaneesha, but for our entire team.
In an age of AI-generated VO, working with a real human artist is not only refreshing, it reinforces what many of us know to be true, that there’s a soul & authenticity to a human artist that no AI can replicate.
Running a production house with care, accessibility, and inclusivity at the core of how we operate isn’t always easy. Many days feel like an uphill battle. But days like these remind us that our craft doesn’t have to come at the cost of our values and humanity. That holding onto these values doesn’t compromise our work. If anything, it makes it better.
Grateful for moments that reaffirm what’s possible when we create with intention ✨
