We're hosting a film screening! Join us Friday, Feb. 23 for a night of local filmmakers sharing their craft. Deep Cut celebrates the messy process that is filmmaking. Whether it be endless edits, distribution difficulties or anxiety around a new artistic direction there can be a million reasons to not release something. Deep Cut creates a space for artists to share the unshared, expose the rough cuts, and unearth experimental projects in a fun and festive environment. Come get some drinks, watch some movies, and mingle with the artist community of the bay!

Following up with another post about artwork being damaged/stolen First, thank you Linden for the previous post, you echoed very well what our intention is and why we founded thirdspace. (PS: multiple volunteers post on this page 💛) _._ Secondly, and my main reason for writing today is that we believe (more like know 🫤) that the damage to Matthews artpieces were deliberate. Each of those ‘leaves’ you see on the first slide were broken in pieces and the art was found on the ground and power cable disconnected. I’m making a personal post because I specifically asked Matt if I could please include his piece as part of “Are You Comfy” exhibit after seeing it at a different gallery (@2727californiastreet ). His message (slide 2) resonated with me closely in that there is no justified genocide regardless of any beliefs you might have. In his message for the piece, Matt quoted the dubbed ‘antiwar poet’: If we get in touch with the suffering in the world and are moved by that suffering, we may come forward to help the people who are suffering, and our own suffering may just vanish. -Thich Nhat Hahn, Being Peace The exhibit itself is a ‘flower’ with a microchip at the base of the stem and projecting a slideshow of the photos of imprisoned men and women come from leaked documents hosted at xinjiangpolicefiles.org. (Slides 3,4,5) More at: / _._ It does hurt me deeply to see this but I also knew when starting thirdspace, that this is the world we live in. People express love, anger, emotion or lack thereof in many forms, be it art or violence. But I also decided that when it did happen, we would use it as opportunity for dialogue. You needn’t agree with peoples opinions, but please respect their work and craft and know that behind all art we exhibit, there’s a human being who is expressing their world and in their own way. And in thirdspace, all those worlds will collide and not often in the best light. The deep intent is to use the opportunity to become one. At least that’s what thirdspace is to me Edna

Howdy thirdspace friends 🤠 We're kicking off a new monthly event collaboration with The Sycamore on Sunday, July 14th at 6pm. Come hang out on the famous Sycamore patio, and have a few drinks while you let out your inner artiste! The event is pay as you can so we can fund the materials used, while maintaining our accessibility. PLEASE do not feel pressured to donate if you do not have the means! Additionally, Sycamore has agreed to donate 3% of all bar proceeds to the Palestinian Childrens Relief fund and PAL Humanity. In order to make this donation as effective as possible, there is a two drink minimum (luckily Sycamore has some of the most affordable food and drinks in the city!) All materials will be provided, just bring yourselves and your creativity!

We're hosting a charitable auction and donation run to finishing paying for this incredible mural on our building on market, across the street from the Safeway at Duboce and Church. All proceeds in excess of $3k will go towards throwing future artistic events. Featuring the poem "I Promise" by Kian.locke and painted by @genuinehandspainting and @acedynamicaesthetics , it holds a message of hope for San Francisco in these turbulent times.
