For those who don’t know me the journey to the 1st part of what is a 2 part project is hundreds of beats, dozens of singles and a couple complete projects, not dropped ago. For those closest to me they’ve borne witness to the near decade on this path to here filled with countless sleepless nights, frustrations, fractures, rebuilding, laughter, love gained, love lost, life and death, grief turned knowing and friendships turned brotherhood, among many other life lessons.
There’s no one way to do this thing but for me its meant trusting that I needed to live my life as it was, to be who I am right now in order for all of this to make sense. As much as I’ve been told that I needed to go here or there to make things happen its in my home city Toronto that I’ve been gifted with the faces and places that make up the experiences that have translated into the lyrics and music you’ll be hearing throughout this project.
And while none of this would be possible without a team I’ve been graced with more than that, with people who aren’t just here for the music, they’re here for me, many times believing in me more than I’ve believed in myself. I’ll have a lot more to say about the people behind the stories, sights and sounds I’ll be sharing throughout this project but for now I want to thank all of you who’ve held it down for me and raised me up when I needed it most. There are no words that can ever fully express what you all mean to me.
And to the world: This is where we begin, let this music take us to wherever
we’re supposed to be.
