Women’s Pavilion
in collaboration with Cartier
by Yuko Nagayama 永山祐子
@yna_tokyo designed not only 1 pavilion in the Expo but 2. Some might know her design of Tokyu Kabukicho Tower ( #東急歌舞伎町タワー ) in Shinjuku more - a huge tower with interesting detailing of facade to keep the top edges soft and light.
Enveloped with a re-used facade / frame structure from the 2020 Dubai Expo’s Japan Pavilion, the actual reflective-box pavilion inside turns very invisible shaded by the frame structure and surrounded with plants brought from different parts of Japan. The architectural design and tour were quite successful in slowing down ones’ mind and get everyone’s attention to the tour experience.
