It was an honor to sit down with the the Federation of Black Cowboys, also known as the Last Black Cowboys of NYC, @federationofblackcowboys
In the beginning, we reached out about promoting our upcoming rodeo event but as we had hour long conversations with Cowboy Curly, we were quickly educated on the rich history and stories of Black cowboys in America from past to present, the victories, the struggles, and overwhelming strength it took and how are stories are all tied together.
Stories that will live forever and memories that will never be forgotten.
Thank you to @stevemaddenmens for supplying us with the finest of Cowboy Boots to also help bring this shoot to life as well!
In speaking with the guys, they told me they created Curlys Cowboy Center featuring three distinctive subjects. This would tell the story of history that was fazed out of school books. The Black Cowboy, The Indigenous Native American & the Black enslaved people. In their Museum, there are artifacts and displays that will enlighten your curiosity of America.
This mission has made it necessary to try and obtain funds from everywhere possible. They are trying to raise funds for outreach and staff operations. They gladly accept volunteers for the advancement of operations.
Their horses are here to enhance children’s mental stability .
