At age 14, I was stunned by the tale of ‘The Child that Went with Fairies’ by Sheridan Le Fanu. A short story about children playing, a green field, in the evening, fog, and something or someone who comes and takes a child away. There is not much of the detail of the story that I remember, but I do recall vividly the feeling I had after reading it.
Coldness, inevitability, beauty and horror of the unknown.
I was sure the author was French because of their name.
One year ago I read a script which reminded me of that feeling and atmosphere. It was an Irish language film script and I thought that it was interesting, the similarity, so I googled the tale and discovered that Le Fanu was actually Irish.
Later on in a zoom with Aislinn I was just so happy to talk with someone who also creates a beautiful and scary world that I didn’t even think about actually getting the role. I was all into sharing that experience of both stories which has opened my endless interest in Irish culture
I can’t believe how lucky I am to be a part of Frewaka now
Thank @thewirelessgirl for trusting me with the role and @claremonnelly for being my best partner
Thank you to the amazing team and production, it’s absolutely nothing without every one of you and big big congratulations to everyone involved! 💚💚💚
