Members of the 188th Wing Staff took part in a mock physical fitness test at Ft. Chaffee Army Base on May 16, 2026, putting themselves to the test as new fitness standards roll out across the U.S. Air Force National Guard.

On Friday, May 15, the Ebbing Fire Department conducted annual training at the Ebbing Regional Training Site, focusing on forcible entry, search tactics, firefighter rescue, structural firefighting, and core competencies to stay proficient and current on standards and requirements.
Today, 26 students from the Alma High School JROTC program visited Ebbing Air National Guard Base to learn more about Air Force and Air National Guard career opportunities, benefits, and service pathways.
During their visit, students participated in an interactive fire department experience, including wearing firefighting gear, operating a fire hose, and completing physical challenges while suited up. They also engaged with intel, weather forecasters and an F-35 pilot, to gain firsthand insight into mission sets and career fields that support national defense.
✈ ✈ Heads up: Residents may see or hear fighter jets May 12 and 13, 2026 when the 85th Fighter Group conducts night flying operations in the area. Night flying is required for training operations to fully qualify our Foreign Military Sales (FMS) partners in the F-35.

A two-person advance team from the Arkansas Air National Guard’s 188th Medical Group has returned from a site survey in Paraguay, laying the groundwork for the unit’s participation in AMISTAD 2026, a multinational medical readiness exercise led by U.S. Air Forces Southern (AFSOUTH).
The 188th Medical Group is one of four Air National Guard units deploying Medical Assistance Teams to partner with Paraguayan health providers. The exercise aims to boost U.S. forces’ medical readiness and interoperability while strengthening bilateral ties by helping ease pressure on Paraguay’s healthcare system.

During his visit, Nordhaus received mission briefings, toured key facilities, and engaged with Airmen supporting the 188th Wing and the Foreign Military Sales mission, highlighting the installation’s critical role in national defense.

Airmen engaged students through hands-on medical training and real-world demonstrations, including tourniquet application, splinting techniques, and first aid fundamentals. Public Health also introduced students to Meals, Ready-to-Eat (MREs), giving them a chance to learn—and taste—how these meals support service members in the field.
