- Simon was honestly someone I looked up to.. back in 2022 I had heard and seen videos about Posterboy and I could see what it meant to everyone in durban and the scene and when I saw them perform for the first time, the first band i saw live, it was really inspiring to me and Simon just looked like such a cool guy to me being the lead singer and lead guitarist of the band everyone loved.
Since then I would occasionally see him at events and I always wanted to say hi but I was always too scared.. I had doubts about myself fitting in or maybe he would think I was too weird or something stupid so I never ended up saying anything. We followed each other on socials but that was about it.
Fast forward around October last year i eventually sent him a message asking him if I could shoot for them at westville werehouse and he was down..
It was my first time meeting Simon and prior to arriving I had those same insecure thoughts I always had running through my head.. like what if this guy who is so well respected and liked by everyone doesn’t like my vibe and he just makes me feel like an imposter.. I just had this feeling that we wouldn’t gel and weren’t going to be friends 😭
to my surprise I was actually so wrong.
He was so kind and welcoming and really made me feel comfortable.. we chatted for a bit and after they were done playing we went to film an outro for the video and after that was done we just chilled by the stairs and spoke about our lives and music and passions and got to know each other a bit more and it was really comforting to know that he was such an amazing human being and that I was freaking out for nothing.. it was good to know that we had a lot in common as artists and we bonded over trying to find ways to help each other going forward..
it was such a privilege and pleasure being able to connect with such an incredible artist like Simon for the short time we had.. a talented and just an overall amazing human being ❤️

I wish we had more time together and fulfilled the plans we had to shoot.. especially the Hometown music video ❤️🩹
I will never forget you Simon.. rest in peace ❤️🕊️
