Vivienne Westwood: Active Resistance to Propaganda (AR)
For her Spring/Summer 2006 collection, titled Active Resistance to Propaganda, Vivienne debuted the “AR” branding used throughout many of the looks, alongside all-over prints featuring the word “Propaganda” and the title of the collection itself.
In her F/W 2006 collections, she continued using the AR motifs introduced during the previous season while adding new variations of them.
Later, in 2007, Vivienne wrote a Manifesto of her own with the same title.
In this text, Vivienne discusses how art can change lives and mindsets through its own power, making us “more human,” helping us see things clearly, and teaching us to develop independent thought that can guide us instead of allowing ourselves to be manipulated by propaganda, or at least, not so easily.
Throughout the 20 page manifesto, she not only discusses these ideas, but also explores topics such as modern culture and human nature, either through her own direct words or through dialogues created between fictional characters, such as a pirate named Progress, and historical figures including Aristotle.
The archive currently has a 2006 AR monogram silk tie available for sale and rent. More details can be found in the previous post.

2006 Vivienne Westwood Active Resistance Silk Tie
A black and khaki tie featuring an “AR” monogram all over and the slogan “Active Resistance to Propaganda”, repeated throughout the S/S 2006 and F/W 2006 runways and closely related to the manifesto written by Vivienne Westwood in 2007 under the same name.
In tomorrow’s post, I’ll talk more about the manifesto and these collections. Enjoy!

1980s Calugi e Giannelli Distressed Leather Jacket
So many cool details on this piece!
Padded welt zip pockets, a decorative zipper around the waist along with two side belts, and shoulder pads that give it a very squared fit at the top and a tighter, slightly cropped fit at the bottom.
Needless to say, the quality of this jacket is amazing. Made from very thick leather in a distressed effect and finished with Lampo metal hardware.

S/S 2006 Comme des Garçons Homme Plus Tee & Pants
For Spring/Summer 2006, almost every garment on the runway featured the Rolling Stones’ tongue logo, as a front graphic, as an all-over pattern, or pictured in some pockets.
The looks also recalled the style of the Rolling Stones members in the 60s and 70s, making the whole runway an ode to the band.
Today we are showcasing two garments from the collection available in the archive, both very cool and marked as size M.

A/W 2003 Dolce & Gabbana Aviator Jacket
Today we have what is, at least for me, one of the most fun military pieces Dolce & Gabbana has ever made.
A flamboyant reinterpretation of an aviator jacket, featuring two translucent elbow and shoulder pads, goggle shaped pockets, and many more details that seem utilitarian but are mostly just the designers having some fun.
Size: M
Condition: 7.5 (Overall great condition, but two small fabric strips that emerge from the inner wrists have been cut, and there is a tiny hole in the lining.)

Made in Italy and manufactured by Itierre, this jacket comes in a 100% nylon build along with branded metallic hardware.
