We have been on the hunt for our Project 13 tapware.. but not all tapware is made equal! Manufacturing has come along way over the years from powder coating to electroplating to PVD finishes.. But unfortunately some brands and finishes are still electroplated which means in harsh water environments it simply won’t last..leaving you with corroded and chipped tapware.. But PVD tapware is changing the game. So what is PVD? PVD (physical vapor deposition) coating, also known as thin-film coating. Its a process in which a solid material is vaporized in a vacuum and deposited onto the surface of a part. Why is PVD superior to electroplated or powder coated tapware ? PVD can provide a lifetime of protection from daily cleaning, which adds durability and value to your product. Traditional electroplating of brass, nickel, and gold finishes require a clear coat that degrade with time and can easily tarnish or corrode. PVD requires no clear top coats that fade or dull. Simply put PVD finishes can be harder wearing and corrosion resistant lasting longer than traditional finishes. The best thing to do when choosing your tapware finishes is to research the product and brand and always ask about the warranty available.
