A day to remember!
We were honoured to welcome His Majesty King Charles III, Royal Artillery Captain General, to Thorney Island recently.
His Majesty had the chance to witness live air defence demonstrations and meet soldiers from across the Regiment, along with their families and loved ones. It was a memorable day for everyone, including deployed troops who joined us online. A wonderful opportunity to highlight the equipment and capabilities we use to protect our skies.
A truly proud and unforgettable occasion.

❄️ Ex RACING ICE - Pushing limits, breaking barriers ❄️
From the bobsleigh track to the podium, Troops from 12RA Ice Team showcased grit, determination and teamwork throughout the winter season.
Gnr Fisher and Gnr Brown took on the challenge as Novice Pilot and Brakeman, gaining invaluable experience on the ice. Despite setbacks, their resilience shone through. SSgt Grossi proved unstoppable, claiming 1st place on race day to become Female Army Bobsleigh Champion and the fastest Brakewoman! Her incredible spirit and dedication earned her the prestigious Vintners Award for Spirit of the Championships, recognising her courage, leadership and unwavering support for her team 🏆
The Royal Artillery offers more than a career - it’s an opportunity to push your limits, embrace new challenges and be part of a team that feels like family. Whether it’s on the ice or in the field, there’s no limit to what you can achieve!

What a weekend for 12 Regt RA! ⚽️
The team delivered a powerhouse performance on the pitch, storming to a 5-1 victory over 16 Regt RA and securing their spot in the Challenge Cup semi-finals. Even with many troops being deployed, the team showed relentless energy, solid teamwork and a huge display of determination - which paid off 💪🏼
An unforgettable day on Thorney Island.
Brilliant to welcome our Captain General, His Majesty King Charles III, for a first visit with 7 Air Defence Group – and even better to see him proudly sporting his Gunner tie!
Our very own 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery fired a traditional 21-gun salute, before His Majesty met soldiers and families from 12th and 16th Regiments - including our incredible Commonwealth Gunners - and chatting online live, to our people deployed overseas, thanking them for their service.
From live air defence demonstrations, to meeting @forceatlantic – our Gunner bravehearts who were the first all-junior rank Army team to row the Atlantic – it was a proud day showcasing exactly why we are the eyes, ears and firepower of the Army.

Ex ALPINE TIGER
Before Christmas, a team of 8 embarked on Ex ALPINE TIGER - the Royal Artillery’s alpine ski racing training camp, held in Les Deux Alpes, France. The three-week training package consisted of intensive alpine race training delivered by experienced instructors, developing both novice and experienced skiers alike. The team was drawn from across the Regiment and focused on building technical skill, race performance and confidence on the snow. On completion of the camp, the team will go on to compete at the Royal Artillery championships, with the opportunity to progress to higher-level competitions.
The training camp provides an excellent opportunity for troops of all abilities to learn and develop their alpine skiing skills. The exercise builds confidence and resilience within a competitive environment, directly enhancing individuals abilities to perform effectively in challenging conditions.

As the countdown to Christmas began last week, the regiment marked the season by taking part in the CO’s Fun Run — a great opportunity for festive fancy dress and Christmas jumpers all round. The CO also took the opportunity to recognise recent promotions, while those troops who have successfully passed P Company were proudly presented with their Para jackets.
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all at 12 Regiment Royal Artillery.

EXERCISE PLASSEY SANDSTORM
9 (PLASSEY) Battery recently completed a week-long exercise while deployed, focused on testing and refining current procedures. Throughout the week, the Battery faced a series of progressively complex scenarios, including casualty evacuations to test team medics and combat medical technicians, vehicle breakdowns and faults to challenge REME support, and multiple air threat scenarios to assess command-and-control decision-making at both FCC level and on the ground. The exercise was highly successful and provided a valuable opportunity to further develop and consolidate the troops’ skills and knowledge.

What have the Regt been up to?
12 MINDEN Bty have been exercising across Europe alongside our NATO brothers-in-arms, strengthening interoperability and readiness wherever duty calls. 🇬🇧🤝🇪🇺
Last month soldiers from T Bty (Shah Sujah’s Troop) took part in Race for Remembrance at Thruxton. Finishing 3rd place out of the service teams that took part. This was a great opportunity for soldiers to remember those that we have lost in a unique way.
