120 Hours 2026 jury member: Kåre Aleksander Grundvåg
120 Hurs 2026 is almost over - and we are thrilled announce Kåre Aleksander Grundvåg as the seventh and last member of this year’s jury. Read on to learn more about his practice!
Kåre Aleksander Grundvåg (b. 1984) is an artist who lives and works in Tromsø. Grundvåg is educated from the Academy of Arts in Tromsø and is currently a PhD candidate in artistic research at UMAK, Tromsø and KMD, Bergen. Through various sculptural techniques and process-based projects, Grundvåg explores a non-human architecture. Material experimentation, bio-mimetics and traditional knowledge are included as elements in the practice, with the coastal landscape of Northern Norway as a frame of reference.
His latest project consists of bird mountains, constructed and built by Grundvåg, to give the Kittiwake bird a shelter, as the Kittiwakes are climate refugees, escaping to live in Tromsø city, leading to conflicts between building owners wanting to protect their buildings, and the birds looking for a new home.
His latest curated exhibition titled I Hate Seagulls, curated with Camilla Fagerli, was recently exhibited at Tromsø Kunstforening.
His work has recently been shown at: Entrée(2021), Bergen Kunsthall(2021), Kunsthalle Wien(2021), Kurant Visningsrom, Tromsø (2020); The Autumn Exhibition, Oslo (2019); LIAF, Svolvær (2019); Barents Spectacle, Kirkenes (2019); Meat the Future, A.K.T Pforzeim (2019); Arctic Arts Festival, Harstad (2018) and the Arctic Art Forum, Arkhangelsk (2018).

120 Hours 2026 jury member: Einar Hagem
120 Hurs 2026 is already started - and we are thrilled announce Einar Hagem as the sixth member of this year’s jury. Read on to learn more about his practice!
Einar Hagem is a partner at Lundhagem and plays a key role in the firm’s professional development. He is one of the practice’s most experienced leaders of complex building projects. Hagem has particular expertise in guiding multidisciplinary design teams through all phases of a project, with a strong focus on large-scale developments, heritage conservation, and sustainable urban development, as well as cabins and small houses in natural landscapes.
Core areas of expertise:
Complex project leadership: Hagem has led major urban projects such as the 60,000 m² Deichman Axis in Bjørvika and the Institute of Informatics (IFI2) for Statsbygg. He has extensive experience coordinating interdisciplinary teams and managing user processes.
Transformation and conservation: Hagem has unique experience integrating contemporary functions into heritage buildings. Recent projects include the transformation of Gamle Deichmanske and Sverre Fehn’s school for the deaf in Skådalen. He previously led the rehabilitation of the Historical Museum and the Seilduksfabrikken building (KiHO).
Environmental and sustainability strategies: He has led projects with very ambitious environmental targets, including passive house standards for Deichman (FutureBuilt), BREEAM Excellent certification for Sophus Bugges Hus, and the circular exhibition building Gaia Sortland, based on 95% reused materials.
Methodology:
Einar strongly believes in early-phase workshops where the team develops and compares different proposals through physical models and sketches. He places particular emphasis on ensuring that the studies are genuinely comparable, allowing advantages and disadvantages to become clear and enabling preliminary conclusions to be drawn. At the same time, it is important that solutions do not become fixed too early, and that everyone is encouraged to explore “opposite” approaches. Often, the most interesting answer lies somewhere between what one initially believes in and its opposite.
120 Hours 2026 starts NOW!
The assignment is now published! Download it, as well as the reference paper, at 120hours.no (link in bio). Read it thoroughly, HAVE FUN, and submit within 120 hours. Good luck!!!
