“The tallest building in Memphis has always had a special place in my heart. From hearing stories of the past and dreaming of its future. To me it represents life in Memphis. A once thriving building full of business and life that was left to ruin because it was not worth the time or money to maintain/restore.
I was lucky enough to be in the building during its vacant years with a tribe of people I will never forget. We spent many a night exploring, photographing, dancing, painting, and vibin as a community under the careful direction of
@webraw and others. No destruction, just love and appreciation for what we thought that building could be! Climbing 40 floors to the top was brutal, but the sunsets and people once on top were unmatched.
This group eventually led to the formation of Grind City Meet and an amazing collaboration of the best Memphis Artists has to offer. I cannot wait to see what the 100 becomes and how it will help be part of the regrowth of Downtown Memphis the next generations need.”
