Selected for #100archive2024, designed by Rachel Copley McQuillan and Stina Sandström @bureaubonanza , this project brings together typographic identity, animated film titles, and a specially produced newspaper to support Deirdre O’Mahony’s powerful sound and moving image artwork.
Drawing on the visual language of 1970s and 80s agricultural publishing, the design reinterprets familiar Farmers’ Journal and provincial newspaper aesthetics through a contemporary lens, connecting past communication traditions with today’s urgent environmental questions.
Produced for the Walls & Halls Tour and exhibition at The Douglas Hyde Gallery, the accompanying newspaper — whose cover also served as the tour poster — features farmer interviews, documentation of the Sustainment Experiment feasts, artist correspondence, and the project’s libretto, creating a meaningful bridge between artwork and rural audiences.
Typography referencing plough-line patterns and motion design reflecting the artwork’s polyvocal approach reinforce themes of ecological interconnectedness and shared responsibility. The identity unifies the project across gallery installations and community screenings in barns and halls across Ireland, supporting dialogue between food producers and consumers around sustainability and climate change.

Selected for #100archive2024, Bounce showcases how Irish design continues to create spaces where ideas and people connect.
The identity for this new conference for creative professionals by David Joyce, Barry Hone, Ciara Fitzgerald, Katy Finnegan and Diarmuid O’Connor at Language draws on the energy of a pinball machine — a playful metaphor for the sparks that fly when creative minds collide. Fast movement, bright lights and interconnected motion capture the spirit of the event, while the vertical wordmark and dynamic ball motif echo the mechanics of pinball itself, inviting participants to jump back in and play again. Animated elements and lively copy further amplify the sense of momentum and collaboration.

Selected for #100archive2024, Caladh in Greystones, Co. Wicklow showcases a beautifully considered example of contemporary Irish design by Rachel Delap. @racheldelap
Created for restaurateurs Brian Walsh and Paul Foley, the project encompassed naming, brand identity, signage, print, website design, and photography direction. The name Caladh — Irish for “landing place” or “harbour” — reflects both Walsh’s long journey to opening the restaurant and its coastal Greystones setting.
The resulting identity is calm, spacious and grounded, with a rectangular motif symbolising arrival and anchoring the brand visually. Printed menus and cards, expertly produced by Print Plus, and signage realised by Revert further embed the brand in the physical space.
Photographer Tetyana Maryshko’s imagery completes the visual language, capturing the craft of the kitchen and the restaurant’s connection to place.

Selected for #100archive2024, this project by Noelle Cooper, Colin Farmer, Philip Farmer and Aoibheann Brady @unthink_ie showcases Irish design supporting early learning through thoughtful digital experience design.
Commissioned by Early Childhood Ireland, the team created an interactive platform inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy — a globally recognised, community-driven approach to early education. Drawing from ECI’s brand and the architecture of Reggio Emilia, the visual identity blends modular clarity with warmth, while bespoke illustrations — inspired by children’s own spontaneous drawings — capture the spirit of curiosity and exploration.
Designed for accessibility, flexibility and engagement, the platform allows educators and professionals to easily access and manage learning resources across all devices. Subtle animations and a modular layout make dense content approachable while maintaining openness and simplicity.

Selected for #100archive2024, this vibrant campaign by Bob Gray and Leah Bredendieck of @redandgrey_ champions creativity while embracing a truth well known in Ireland — if it’s not raining, it’s about to.
Created to promote the Creative Arts Summer School, a free collaborative programme supporting ACCESS students across ten of Ireland’s leading institutes, the campaign needed to spark curiosity while guiding students toward potential creative careers.
The solution? Colourful identity umbrellas, central to both concept and execution — a playful yet practical nod to Irish weather and climate realities. Each umbrella was painstakingly finished with waterproof spray paint using stencil elements from the Summer School’s identity system — a process far more labour-intensive than expected, but worth every drop.

Selected for #100archive2024, the visual identity for Stretch — the Dublin-based bi-monthly DIY club night founded by Limerick DJ and producer Lúnasa — showcases how design and dance culture collide in all the right ways.
Designed by freelance creative Jennifer Mongey Balfe, Stretch champions underrepresented talent while celebrating the collective energy of all-night dancefloor journeys. The identity mirrors that spirit: playful, tactile, and full of movement. Hand-drawn letterforms inspired by dancing bodies twist and connect, brought further to life through animated GIFs where characters stretch and groove.
Each event poster spotlights the featured DJ through bold monochrome illustration, often chosen by the artist themselves to best capture their personality. Rendered in a striking handmade typeface, every poster becomes both a portrait and a preview of the night’s atmosphere — graphic, energetic, and unmistakably human.

Selected for #100archive2024, the reimagined identity for Comhairle na nÓg by Susan Carberry, Mary Doherty and David Stanley @red_dog_design showcases how thoughtful design can amplify young voices across Ireland.
Operating in all 31 local authorities and supported by DCEDIY, Comhairle na nÓg empowers young people aged 12–17 to influence decisions affecting their communities. Red Dog’s challenge was to create an identity that speaks equally to young people and policymakers while reflecting the councils’ shared purpose and local individuality.
The resulting brand celebrates unity and diversity in equal measure. A bold, youthful wordmark is paired with a flag-inspired tagline symbolising representation and pride, while a custom fada and smiling ‘g’ reinforce voice and inclusivity. A flexible system of graphic tiles draws from each council’s geography and character, creating endlessly adaptable compositions across print and digital. Open-source fonts and editable templates ensure members can create their own communications, keeping the identity accessible and alive.
