Turning art into impact 🌊🎭 As someone working at the intersection of storytelling and nature impact, I’m always curious how environmental themes find their way onto the stage. That’s why I sat down with Dominik White Slavkovský @0domco0 to talk about his new choreography “6 Till Midnight”, created within Next Generation at Staatsballett Berlin. His piece approaches a serious reality through an unexpected lens: coral reefs are disappearing — one of the most fragile ecosystems on Earth is fading — and Dominik translates this crisis into a world of pop-art satire and physical storytelling. Bright surfaces meet uncomfortable truths, asking what remains when beauty vanishes beneath the waves. Next Generation gives dancers the freedom to explore their own artistic voice — and “6 Till Midnight” is a striking example of how the next generation of artists engages with the defining issues of our time. @freunde.staatsballettberlin Art can move us. But it can also move awareness. This conversation explores the ideas behind the piece, the creative process, and why environmental storytelling belongs on stage. 🌍🎥 Watch the interview Thanks for the help @emilyeichenberg_

🧜🏻‍♀️ My short reimagination of The little mermaid as a nepo baby that turns self made billionaire in “6 till midnight”. Lost in underwater world watching over growing great pacific garbage patch, endangered species and reality we hear of the coral reef bleachings. 🪸 Here in two beautiful casts done by @emmantrobus and @cheliktash 📸@kuylerphoto

——— Between daily training, rehearsals, and the work on their own pieces, we had the chance – ahead of NEXT GENERATION – to meet the choreographers behind this wonderful format and talk with them about their work. Here, we’re taking you behind the scenes and introducing you to the artists of Next Generation. One by one. Every day. Fom today until the premiere. First at the mic is Dominik White Slavkovský (@0domco0 ), who created the piece “6 till midnight2” for Next Generation. What a plastic garbage can has to do with it, what he is curious to explore through his piece, the role that fun plays in works, and why choreographing makes a better dancer – discover all of this in our very first interview. More on Next Generation, a project close to our hearts, via the link in our bio. And all program details at Staatsballett Berlin. ——— Credits: Concept & Realisation: Dennis Wartenberg Coordination & Support: Malena Rott Music: raspberrymusic | Snaps Opener Logo (Envato Elements License) #StaatsballettBerlin #NewVoicesInChoreography #DanceInTheMaking #Freundeskreis
