This year’s UTMB journey tested me in every way — from the DNF at @speedgoatmtnraces , to the climbs at @ultratrailwhistler 50K, to digging deep for the @kodiak_ultramarathons 100 miler.
I’m beyond grateful to have had the opportunity to partner with @utmbworldseries and line up at these races — each one pushed me to face my weaknesses head-on and reminded me what this sport is all about.
These courses showed me that being at a disadvantage doesn’t mean being limited. If you stay patient, work the details, and keep showing up, you can still find success in your goals.
Every high, every low, every mile.
@kodiak_ultramarathons 100 Mile Recap
The @utmbworldseries American Majors
Slide 1: Quick recap. Swipe for the full story.
Slide 2: Calm start. First 60 miles at a 2/10 effort.
Slide 3: Camp Whittle (18.6mi / 30km). Good spirits, smooth pacing, my crew documenting along the way.
Slide 4: Doble Camp 1 (29.8mi / 47.9km). First crewed stop — same squad as last year. Sam (feet), Ashley (pain management), Annie (nutrition + gear). Locked in.
Slide 5: Halfway point with my brother Cal, who ran the first 50 with me. We met at last year’s 100K — lifelong bond through the miles.
Slide 6: Sugarloaf #1 (64.3mi / 103.6km). Brutal technical climb before the summit. Lost my bib mid-course but another runner brought it in 🙏🏽 . Crew reset me, picked up my pacer Ian — huge for the next stretch.
Slide 7: After 100km, tried to open up. Faded fast but Ian kept me pushing. Hit 0% battery before my crew revived me with the magic formula.
Slide 8: Around mile 90, somehow found my legs again. Faced another brutal climb and told myself, run as much as possible.
Slide 9: Snow Summit (91mi). Strongest moment of the race. Not the fastest, not the most talented — but always heart. 🖤
Slide 10: Final push — strong legs, high energy, downhill to the finish.
Slide 11: Finish line with my loved ones 🇵🇭. We Filipinos are built different — heart, grit, and work ethic. This one’s for my country. Thank you God for a life-changing race. 🙏🏽
@ultratrailwhistler 50km Recap
Went in to this race healthy, rested, and confident. Hoping that if I can execute my pacing and nutrition that I could extend that confidence a little more. The couple weeks leading up to it thought I did doubt myself and my ability as a trail/ultra runner. I got sick during my peak week and was forced to cut it short followed by another week of recovery (no running). After the biggest climb of the race I knew that the rest leading up to it and the previous weeks of big miles was more than enough. Just like life; the running journey had shown its ups and downs.
Thank you @ultratrailwhistler@utmbworldseries for giving me the opportunity to test myself.
In less than 10 days I will be stepping in to the unknown to race the UTMB North America Majors @kodiak_ultramarathons 100 Miler. My first official mountain 100 mile race. See yall on the other side! Thank you for your support on this journey 🫱🏽🫲🏼 🇵🇭
