“The Dull-Ice Flower”
is a Taiwanese film released in 1989,
directed by Yang Li-Kuo and written by Wu Nien-Jen.
The movie is adapted from the novel of the same name
by Chung Chao-Cheng.
Set in the rural Taiwan of the early 1960s,
the film was primarily shot
around Mingde Reservoir in Touwu Township, Miaoli County,
and at Xishan Elementary School in the Shilin District of Taipei.
The title “The Dull-Ice Flower”
refers to the lupine flower (Lupinus),
a small yellow flower commonly planted among crops or tea fields.
After blooming,
the flower is plowed back into the soil to enrich it
symbolizing silent dedication and selfless contribution. In both the film and the novel,
it represents a gifted young artist who dies young
though his life was brief, his talent and spirit deeply moved and inspired others.
The term “Lupine” in Mandarin
is transliterated as Lu Bing Hua (魯冰花),
which coincidentally sounds similar to the Hakka and Taiwanese phrases for “roadside flower”
a metaphor for something that blooms quietly and beautifully, yet often goes unnoticed.

是一部於1989年上映的台灣電影，
由楊立國執導，吳念真擔任編劇，
改編自鍾肇政的同名小說。
電影以1960年代初期的台灣農村為背景，
主要拍攝地點為苗栗縣頭屋鄉明德水庫周圍，
以及台北市士林區的溪山國小。
片名《魯冰花》源自「羽扇豆」（Lupinus），
是一種黃色的小花，常被種植於田地或茶樹間。
花開後會被犁入泥土，用以滋養土地，
象徵奉獻與默默付出。
在電影與小說中，
它代表那位早夭卻天資聰穎的美術天才兒童，
雖然生命短暫，卻啟發了人們的心靈。
「魯冰花」的發音來自英文學名的音譯，
巧合地也與台灣客語與台語中「路邊花」的發音相近，
進一步強化了「靜靜綻放卻難以被看見」的寓意。
These pieces explore circles trying to become human again. In this conceptual project by Paris-based designer Chris Lee, a speculative future unfolds where humanity has vanished and only colored circles remain, objects carrying the trapped thoughts of extinct humans. Moving across dimensions, these circles constantly reshape themselves in pursuit of becoming human once more. For a long time, none succeed, until one finally does: the blue circle. Through fashion, the project visualizes transformation, persistence, and identity in a post-human world.

Piero’s song “A mí me dieron el mar” (“They gave me the sea”) is a Latin folk ballad with poetic and social undertones.
Using very simple language, it explores deeper emotions about choice, freedom, and the gap between what life offers and what one truly expects or desires.

Last winter, I met @811blu in a café called “Bleu,” and that was how this story of blue began.
在去年的冬天我和Chris在一間叫藍色的咖啡廳相遇了
Through our conversations,
we slowly shaped and imagined three ideal characters together. It had been a long time since I felt this kind of quiet yet profound stirring within me.
他喚醒了我過去製作服裝的記憶
以及對這個顏色的執著
在我的人生中 曾經也有一位朋友像他一樣
我們一起創建了這些角色
很剛好我們討論的作品年代大約在2000左右
紀錄了這個年代的風格
I began by understanding his work, and gradually came to understand his life, his personality, and the things he loves. Like a long-term observation, it eventually became a kind of reflection, a gentle conclusion.
和他討論的過程中
理解他的喜好、感受他的理念
當我問他為什麼會想做服裝
他回答我這讓他有種像神一樣的感覺！
雙手創造出了希望
I’m deeply grateful for his trust in inviting me to photograph this series.
Through him, I also saw how he is surrounded by people
friends drawn not only to his work, but to the energy he carries as a person.
很開心有這個機會和他的韓國朋友們一起完成這場拍攝

This series awakened many memories within me
memories of blue.
癡迷於藍色的朋友不多
這讓我喚起了對藍色的記憶
To me blue is a form of protection.
It softens the fire within and brings calm.
It is steady and composed;
it is the sea, the sky,
a quiet sense of peace in the world.
對我來說
藍色是能平衡紅色的顏色
像是降溫嗎？
我感受到穿著藍色時所帶來的平靜
保護我在亂世中能擁有清明
鍾情於一個顏色帶來的能量
