As the day of our first event draws closer, we want to remind everyone of our core values and ethos. Please take a careful read of this before attending tomorrow!

🌀Alongside Sarah we welcome multi talented creative and DJ takenbymarshall, it’s been a long time coming!
🗣️And of course, Manchesters finest and friend of the ratpack, K.O’s very own FKA Hardcore. Don’t say we don’t treat you.

The history of rave culture has always been political. From free parties to raves and discos, the gathering of people moving together has always been a form of resistance.
The underground has been pioneered by those who know what it means to resist collectively.
Soundsystem crews like Spiral Tribe and DiY formed self-sufficient networks against the state, ones which championed themselves on both the sounds and cultures of resistance.
Then there were crews like Sistermatic, a black, lesbian-run soundsystem created to fight against the whiteness of the queer scenes they felt isolated from.
This freedom to collectively party and our freedom of expression is, however, under threat. From the mass commercialisation of scenes once intended to be countercultural to the rising threat of fascism on our streets, it is clear we have reached a critical point. Now it is time to take our fight further than the dance floor.

Queer and racialised bodies have always been trivialised and politicised. Border policies, restrictions on healthcare for trans folks, and the persistence of colonial and patriarchal structures and systems mean we are isolated from mainstream spaces. This is what makes our spaces so sacred.
They provide an alternative to the mainstream and the foundations of a community that keeps each other safe.
Clubs and dancefloors are third spaces, but this cannot exist in isolation. There is an inseparable link between community mobilisation and the dance, one that we cannot afford to forget.
The radical potential of the connections people make by a soundsystem is one we must be channelling into action.

There will be some tickets available on the door, cash or card.
Please refer to our pinned safer spaces policy before attending. RATRACE is a queer safe space, anyone violating this will be asked to leave.
We have a dedicated welfare team who will be identifiable through pink high vis on the night. Please chat to them if you need any assistance throughout the night.
We ask that you don’t use phones or record on the dancefloor. We already live in a surveillance state, live in the moment and enjoy yourselves.

ACCESSIBILITY INFORMATION:
Rebellion can be accessed through a fully accessible public transport route - the nearest station is Deansgate-Castlefield (tram) or Deansgate (train station). The Oxford Road bus stops are an approximate 10 minute walk away.
Rebellion is an accessible venue. There is step free access into the venue and the main room.
There are a couple of steps to enter the second room, but there will be a detachable ramp available for those who need access. A member of Rebellions staff will be a designated access champion, and will be identifiable by high vis throughout the night. Please chat to the access champion, or our welfare lead, for any assistance needed during the night.
There is a fully accessible toilet. The smoking area is accessible, apart from one smaller section at the back which has a couple of steps.

DJ Sarah Bonito, the enigmatic frontwoman of genre-bending UK trio Kero Kero Bonito, leads a double life. Transforming by night into a high-energy DJ; Sarah delivers a fiery mix of nightcore, happy hardcore, gabber and donk in her adrenaline-fuelled sets. Based in London, she draws influences from the UK hard dance scene and club culture, which has inspired her unrelenting love for
fast beats. Being both British and Japanese, she has been impacted by a wide range of styles which she fuses, to create a hardstyle twist on pop culture references, including video games, anime and film. DJ Sarah Bonito has the ability to turn any dance floor into a rave.
Will the bride of hardcore meet the mischief at the alter? Or will the rats run away like they usually do? Probably neither but there’s only one way to find out…
