When I was in high school in 2004 I did my senior project on the work of DPZ and new urbanism. I was mocked at the time because everyone thought it was ridiculous. Before college I did a 1-year internship at a 400 employee civil engineering firm where I did the autocad preliminary site plans. I was attacked for wasting resources when I came up with TND schemes for suburban tract home developments. When I studied Urban Design in college I was mocked by the other students who said it was a fad that had been “disproven” by the profession. It seems like I wasn’t wrong in thinking it was the way to go and the best way to use land and prevent sprawl. 👏
