In January, I was hired to capture photos at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
These are mostly the photos I grabbed while wandering around town between assignments. Davos is normally a small alpine ski village, but during the Forum it transforms into something else entirely. Every storefront, every window, every available surface is wrapped in branding and messaging — all competing for the attention of the world’s most powerful people.
Uber drivers are imported from across Europe. Security teams are everywhere. The whole place feels a little surreal.
I stopped into a coop gift shop run by a group sweet, elderly women. It was a delight because they all were interested in helping me and chatting with me, but they had differing levels of English. So, they were collectively translating for each other. They very sweetly mentioned, not wanting to offend me, that the week was in fact pretty awful for the locals.
