im not debating with anyone on my thoughts.
this isn’t just about first fridays, it’s about systems and leadership
yes, people need to be held accountable AND environments and what’s tolerated matter too
other cities in the bay don’t tolerate certain behavior the same way because structure and leadership matter
so blaming first fridays for problems that have existed for years doesn’t add up
at the end of the day, it’s a community event. look out for each other and be kind, even AFTER it ends
as a community organizer, i would genuinely welcome the opportunity to sit down with leadership to advocate for bay area residents who are actively trying to build community in oakland and be part of real solutions
