You kept every card I ever gave you since I was a child. Every gift. You showed up for every call, every event, every celebration, every moment I needed a shoulder to cry on. Even in moments when I couldn’t see myself clearly, you never stopped seeing me. You loved me through every flaw, every pain, every insecure season. You laughed at all my corny jokes and encouraged me when I didn’t believe in myself.
That kind of love changes a person forever.
You were the most loving and nurturing woman. A woman of wisdom, virtue, laughter, grace, correction, and warmth. A heart of gold. You changed my life while you were here on this earth and even after you left it.
I search for you every single day. I search for your love in this world. My heart has never been the same since you left, and if I’m honest, sometimes I wonder if it ever will be. Time passes, but my love for you never has.
When I look in the mirror, I see you. The way I love people, care for people, nurture people… it’s because of you. God gave me your heart. Your compassion. Your empathy. Your tenderness. Your strength.
You are and always will be one of the most beautiful women to ever walk this earth to me.
Today my heart doesn’t know whether to fully grieve or fully smile, so I sit in the middle of both… knowing I love you with my entire heart.
