We’ve had some half decent years for acorns in the past, but this season is going to be outrageous. I think the pigs know it. Just you wait… the proof will be in the (pork) pudding!

My mum and dad came upon these rocks on the back side of the farm today, there were nearly twenty metates ground into them probably over the course of the millennia that Native Californians lived on this land. There is a special energy here, it is strong and connects one to the earth and it’s very humbling to even have the opportunity to experience it. It serves as a powerful reminder that this place isn’t ours, we are just caretakers. We are simply passing through in the whole scheme of things. And at the very least we owe it to those who came before us and to those still to come to protect and preserve what’s already been here forever. I think of the people who lived here before and what a gentle existence they must have had. They knew how to treat the earth. We have to get a handle on how we’re treating it now.

We are taking this week off for some much needed r&r. I really want to thank everyone for their tremendous love and support over the last twelve months. It would be impossible to express how grateful we are to still be here doing what we love to do, and without all of our devoted customers I dare say it would be a very different story. What a challenge this year has been. If ever there was a good time to be one of the pigs hanging out under the oak trees oblivious to all these human problems! Anyhow we are looking forward to next year and there are some good things coming soon that we will be super excited to tell everyone about.
Wishing everyone a truly wonderful New Years! It might be one of the most quiet celebrations in a long while, certainly a good time to reflect and enjoy a whole bottle of champagne to yourself. Hah!
We love you all very much, take good care and we’ll see you soon!
