"You dramatized the film"...We actually dialled down the "drama" in many parts of the film so we could prioritise presenting the information we were learning. Here is a behind the scenes shot Lucy Tabrizi took in Taiji, Japan after trying to record the underwater sounds of dolphins in the killing cove. Before I was in the water long, approx. 10 police showed up 🤷🏻‍♂️ But thankfully they were all a friendly bunch. I have receieved several kind messages from people in Japan thanking us for bringing the dolphin slaughter in their country to their attention. It simply isn't publicised there. However, after making @seaspiracy we learned Japan is NOT unique in their slaughter of dolphins, and is something that is happening around the world especially in the fishing industry - where the best estimates show 300,000 dolphins, whales and porpoises are caught as bycatch every year. #seaspiracy

Quick promo that I’ll be speaking at the AIM10xdigital Summit , which takes place online between March 19th-20th. Register Now, link in bio. 15,000+ attendees are expected to join the virtual event to explore the planning and decision-making trends, topics and technology that will impact global industry supply chains. I’ll be joining to give a talk about the destructive impact of the global fishing industry, the importance of a healthy ocean, it’s impact on people, the environment, and wildlife, and to share a vision of what implementing solutions would look like. See you there! @o9solutions

NEW FILM ANNOUNCEMENT! 🎬🌊: OCEAN ON FIRE I’ve kept this under wraps, but I am incredibly excited to finally announce that I am Executive Producing a new Ocean-themed major action movie with @globalstudio.film @heathcliff_janusz_iwanowski_ which will begin shooting in the Caribbean this year at Pinewood Studios. The idea of bridging the gap between the education factor of documentary and the entertainment factor of narrative movies to tell the untold stories of the ocean is going to be incredible. Excited to learn more? Check out the article in Variety Magazine: Link in bio 🔗 #seaspiracy #movie #oceanonfire

If you want to save the ocean, leave it alone” - @captainpaulwatson Recently news broke of how amazing it was that the EU is generously putting €1 billion into “protecting the ocean”. However a study from 2019 led by Canadian researchers found that the EU was providing $2 billion annually for fishermen to enhance their capacity to catch more marine life, concluding that the subsidies the bloc continues to provide exacerbate fishing pressures in the waters of other countries and in the high seas. It’s deeply saddening just how much Governments overcomplicate protecting the ocean, almost deliberately, as an attempt to justify their own positions of power. The more vague they can be with their promises and budgets, the less the common person understands it, and the more room they allow for corruption and lack of accountability. Unfortunate, but true. If we simply stopped funding the fishing industry to destroy the ocean to the tune of $35 billion in subsidies every year, we could save the ocean, save tax payer money, and save ourselves from this insanity. #ocean #seaspiracy

Today is #WorldOceansDay - a time to appreciate the wonders of our seas, but also a time for action. In the last 50 years we’ve wiped out 90% of the worlds large fish, causing ecosystem breakdowns across the planet. With up to 30,000 sharks killed per hour, and at least 300,000 whales, dolphins and porpoises wiped out in nets every year, the fishing industry is THE leading threat to Our Ocean. 70% of Macro Plastics at sea comes from fishing gear, and bottom trawling alone releasing more C02 than all air travel combined! Widespread forced labour is also documented in 47 countries, and 24,000 fisheries workers die on the job every year. We need real solutions, not gimmicks… 1.Ditch seafood and shift towards a plant based diet 2. Sign our petition to protect 30% of our seas by 2030 [LINK IN BIO] 3. And Consider donating to these organisations: @seaspiracy @SeaShepherd @VitalActions @pmdphawaii @theoceancleanup @parley.tv @sealegacy Now pass it on!

The camera really is the most powerful ‘weapon’ on earth. Evil thrives in secrecy, and sometimes all that is needed to stop it is to LOOK.
