I've learned more about hunting in the last few years than I can fit in this post. Growing up in a family of hunters, I never had interest, nor was I bothered by it. I chose to sit back and plink at targets with the .22, which snowballed into my love of guns today.
Fast forward to 2020, and I bought my first hunting license. That first season, I found myself falling in love with the woods and wildlife in a way I had never imagined. Watching the woods come alive in the early morning hours as the sun rises and you're smack in the middle of it is incomparable to anything else. Beautiful.
I began buying the Federal Duck Stamp that same year (and have every year since) because I realized what contributions hunters make to the conservation of our natural species across the country. In my three years as a hunter, I have yet to go duck hunting, but I think this year will be the first.
If you love our nation's wildlife & wish to contribute to their conservation and know that your money is going to the right place, I encourage you to consider buying these beautifully made Duck Stamps. They are designed by a selected artist every year, and 98% goes to buying, protecting wetland habitat, and purchasing conservation easements.
I'm eternally grateful for the harvest, friends, and comraderie along the way. Here's to a successful season.
