We are thrilled to announce a landmark partnership between @siratheafricahub and iKON, marking a significant leap forward for the creative industries in East Africa. Under this new partnership, iKON will serve as SIRA’s primary execution and implementation partner in Uganda for the year 2026.
Together, we are committed to empowering Ugandan storytellers and bridging the gap between local talent and the global stage by focusing on strategic areas that strengthen regional and continental collaboration.
A major pillar of this collaboration is the establishment of the SIRA Ugandan Pop-Up and the Uganda–Nigeria Co-Production Lab. These initiatives will facilitate industry laboratories, film screenings, and professional networking engagements. By supporting Ugandan and Nigerian creatives in areas such as story development, project packaging, and financing readiness, we are creating a robust framework for content that can compete in regional and international markets.
To ensure that Ugandan voices reach the widest possible audience, the partnership will prioritize global exposure and market access. iKON will lead the identification and preparation of curated delegations of Ugandan filmmakers for participation in international film markets and festivals. Furthermore, we are dedicated to improving distribution and sales opportunities for Ugandan creative content within West African markets and the African diaspora through strategic industry platforms.
Investing in the future of the industry, we are launching the Next Generation Filmmakers Pipeline to support emerging and youth talent. This program will provide essential training, mentorship, and skills development to help young filmmakers navigate the creative landscape. While these ambitious activities are subject to mutual planning and resource availability, our shared goal remains to build a sustainable and thriving creative ecosystem in Uganda.
