I’ve waited my entire adult life to intimately experience witnessing seasons turn (last time I lived in a proper 4 season climate in Colorado where I’m from, I was far too young to notice) and spring is really giving me a show this year. I was messaging with a friend yesterday and said to her “It’s been my first time really getting to experience seasons. I didn’t know that leaves also bloom and unfurl on trees without flowers. How did I make it to midlife without knowing that? I had never heard bees pollinating en masse before. (Perhaps I just never noticed). It’s reminding me to stay present, excited to discover what each new day will bring. I don’t know that we’re supposed to live without seasons. They exist to remind us to be grateful for the smallest things when the big ones seem unmanageable.” Anyway - couldn’t resist documenting all the blooming in our yard and around town. Fall was incredible with the aspens and cottonwoods turning my favorite shade of mustard gold. Winter was absolutely beautiful - even though we barely got any this year - the snow days were special and the muted color palette and fires in the fireplace stole my heart. But spring? Holy wow. Can’t wait to see what summer brings - the hollyhocks are just starting to show signs of life to come and the farmers are bringing new things to the market to cook feasts with (and I’ve been cooking) - next thing we know it will be melon season! Also I’m really trying to remember to share daily life too, not just work. 😉
