As I turn 79 today, it is with a heavy heart that I reflect on the journey of our beloved country, Nigeria.
It is regrettable that the progress the young child in me once imagined for this great nation has not fully come to pass.
However, an elder is never in a hurry to speak.
Rather than dwell on disappointment, I choose on this special day to celebrate hope.
I wish to appreciate and acknowledge some remarkable Nigerian citizens who, through their actions, have continued to uplift others and serve this nation with honour, compassion, and kindness.
It has taken me a couple of years to make a video to specially thank them, but better late than never.
Today, I particularly commend Engineer Femi Otedola, Ahmed Musa, and Allen Onyema. Through philanthropy, patriotism, and their unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of others, they have demonstrated that true greatness lies in service to humanity.
Their acts of generosity and compassion continue to inspire millions and remind us that Nigeria still has shining lights whose example gives hope for a better future.
May their good deeds encourage many more Nigerians to act with courage, kindness, and a deep sense of responsibility toward our nation and one another.
Nigeria will rise again.
Happy Birthday to Me.
