Love As Fiction Records re-release our 1997 album Maximum Sincere, expanded in a new mix by Wayne Connolly, on March 20th 2026.
Of course, it doesn’t feel like it was 30 years ago that we recorded it.
“Max” had 4 singles lifted from it (Big Mouth, May, Cheating On A Dead Wife, Maximum Sincere) and the album opened doors for us to tour with UK heroes Radiohead & Stone Roses, not to mention our dear pals Powderfinger and Jebediah.
This album will always hold a very special place in our collective hearts and it’s thrilling to present it to you again with a fresh lick of paint and some surprises added.
For those interested, the original sleeve art (image 1) was replaced and built from the ground-up as the original file was on a low-res floppy disc! This was never gonna fly for a 12” sleeve. So my friend and bandmate Pat Haid designed something new using original shots by Sophie Howarth Photography from the album sessions.
The original mix of the album was made for the dynamic range of a CD in 1997 and as some of my contemporaries, studio engineers and bandmates will attest I REALLY laid into those cymbals (all ride cymbals too - I was so green).
So the new mix is similar but less fatiguing, and the sonic space allows for other ear candy to reveal itself - if that makes sense.
